How to escape the cave in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater

After the intense battle with Ocelot, Naked Snake finds himself dropped into the Chyornaya Peschera Cave Branch. This pitch-black maze is a challenging stretch of the game, but it's also a goldmine of resources and essential gear.This guide will provide a step-by-step walkthrough to help you navigate the darkness, find all the key items, and escape the cave.

MGS Delta Snake Eater: How to escape the cave

Phase 1: Navigating the Darkness

When you first land in the cave, it will be completely dark. Do not move! Snake's "EYES" stat will naturally adjust to the low light. Wait about two minutes until the screen brightens up slightly. Once you can see your surroundings, you can begin to move.

• Take the path leading northeast. This will lead you to a large chamber with three distinct paths.
• Go down the northwest path to a small area with a waterfall.

Phase 2: Finding a Light Source and Night Vision Goggles

Your first objective should be to find a light source.

• Near the glowing mushrooms at the waterfall, you will find a torch on the ground. This is your first tool for navigating the cave. You can light it by pressing the Reload/Interact button.
• From the waterfall, look and move carefully to the southwest.
• You will soon find a tunnel marked by more glowing mushrooms. Crouch and crawl through it.
• You will emerge into a large bat-filled chamber. There isn't much here, so immediately head east and crawl through another tunnel.
• This will lead you to a large cave with natural light pouring in. This area is crucial. Collect the Night Vision Goggles and the AK-47 ammo. Be sure to look for a hidden Kerotan frog in this area.

Phase 3: The Underwater Tunnel

Now equipped with night vision, you'll need to make your way back.

• Drop into the water hole in the naturally lit cave.
• Dive underwater and swim southwest through the tunnel as quickly as possible. This tunnel is long, so you will need a full oxygen gauge to make it.
• Once you surface, swim south to circle back to your original spawn point.
• From there, loop northeast to return to the chamber with the three paths.

Phase 4: The Path to The Pain

This time, take the middle tunnel in the three-path chamber.

• Crawl through until you reach the upper level of the waterfall area. You'll find a Ga-ko frog collectible sitting on a rock. Shoot it before moving on.
• From there, follow the northeast route until you re-enter the main cave.
• Once you enter, immediately equip the Night Vision Goggles to see clearly. Take the path on your right, which leads to a side chamber containing the M37 Shotgun and extra Mk22 ammo.
• Crawl north through a small tunnel to find the Snow Camo.
• Keep moving west, and you'll encounter various animals that you can hunt to restore your stamina. Be sure to have Bug Juice equipped to deal with the insects.

Phase 5: The Pain Boss Fight

Eventually, a cutscene will introduce you to The Pain.

• Environment: The fight takes place in a large arena with two platforms. Use the platforms and the environment to your advantage.
• Non-Lethal Reward: If you defeat The Pain using a non-lethal method, you will be rewarded with the Hornet Stripe Camo. Be sure to climb onto his platform before leaving the area to collect it.

Phase 6: Escape the Cave

After defeating The Pain, the path to the cave entrance will open up.

• Navigate the Final Stretch: The corridor is long and mostly linear, but be on the lookout for a side cave that contains a hidden Kerotan and a number of claymore traps. Move carefully to avoid the traps.
• Encounter Hover Soldiers: At the very end, a final cutscene will play, introducing a new enemy type: Hover Soldiers.
• Exit: Push forward to finally escape the cave and continue your mission.
