How to Install Mods for Marvel Rivals on PC?

Marvel Rivals uses Unreal Engine 5, so the mod comes in the form of pak files. It's pretty straightforward: all we need to do is copy the mod files into a folder we will create in the Marvel Rivals directory.

Most of the mods are available for direct download from Nexus Mods. You will need to create a free account to download the zip files for each mod. For an optimal browsing experience, we recommend sorting the dedicated Marvel Rivals section by popularity. This way, you can easily find the most downloaded mods.

Let's dive into an example, by downloading the "Big Smoke as The Punisher" mod. First, head to the "Files" tab, then click on "Manual Download."

Setup the ~Mods Folder

Since this is a release on the Unreal Engine, a dedicated mods folder is necessary within the installation directory. Every single mod pak file will reside here - eliminating any mod manager, or such programs, being necessary for management or even removing these mods.

Open Steam, then enter your library
On Marvel Rivals right-click then enter Manage, then Explore local files

Inside Paks folder create a new folder, named "~mods", dont forget the ~ thats important. Your Paks should look like this :First, extract the zip file of the mod, then proceed to copy the file which has the.pak extension into the ~mods folder. Below is how our ~ mods folder will be structured in the Big Smoke mod. Now, follow these, and when you launch your Marvel Rivals, the Punisher will have been replaced with Big Smoke in the game.

To uninstall the mod, just remove the relevant pak file from the ~mods folder. Provided there are no conflicts between mods, multiple mods can work happily together.

Are Mods Allowed in Marvel Rivals?

Currently, the developers advise against altering config files and ingame content, since it may cause "unexpected issues," which likely includes a potential ban.

While cosmetic mods have not been directly named, the more general implication is that any modification of in-game content or of the engine itself may be picked up by the anti-cheat system and could result in a ban.

While we feel that cosmetic changes are unlikely to lead to bans, providing they do nothing to affect overall visibility or character size, we must admit that there is some risk involved at this time.
