Your dad's advice during a phone call emphasizes the importance of learning Zed's attack patterns and timing your dodges.
Zed's battle is divided into three distinct phases, each with its unique challenges. In the first phase, Zed's attacks are relatively straightforward, providing a taste of what's to come. Watch for his blue motion trail, which signals an impending lunge. Dodge the lunge and counterattack while he's vulnerable. Zed will also launch an array of words at you. Instead of attacking the words, it's safer to jump over or run around them.
Once you deplete Zed's health bar in the first phase, you'll trigger a gory QTE that transitions you to the second phase. In this phase, speakers will spawn across the stage, and Zed will leap onto one to launch long-range red discs. Your goal is to dodge the discs and focus on the speaker Zed is standing on. While you can destroy the other speakers, it's more efficient to target the one Zed is using. When Zed is left without a speaker, he'll summon a massive speaker in the center of the room.
To defeat Zed in this phase, you'll need to damage the massive speaker until a QTE event appears. However, be cautious as Zed will still attack you. Keep an eye on him and dodge his attacks to avoid taking damage.

Zed's arsenal includes a variety of attacks:

- • A boomerang attack with two balls.
- • A special attack that combines the boomerang balls with a lunge.
Zed cycles through these attacks, occasionally using his special move. Most of his attacks can be countered by waiting for him to finish and then attacking.
The exception is his two-ball boomerang attack without screaming. For this, it's best to run away from him. The balls will return to him and can knock you down.
During his special attack, Zed will scream, push you back, and hover. After the animation, he'll lunge with balls, which you should dodge. Then, he'll send the balls out, and they'll return. Dodge them again before attacking. Zed is vulnerable after his special attack.
To earn the "Watch Out For The Balls" achievement, you need Zed to hit himself with his own balls fifteen times. This only works during his special attack.
Here's how to achieve this:
- Timing is crucial. This achievement is only available in the third phase.
- Trigger the special attack. Use the leapfrog attack on Zed to encourage him to use his special move. This tactic seems to increase the frequency of his special attack, making the achievement more manageable.
- Dodge and counter. When Zed lunges, dodge, and then dodge the balls. A QTE event will appear. If you succeed, the balls will hit Zed, stunning him.
