Master the art of haggling in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 with our expert tips.

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Groschen are a precious commodity. Managing your finances effectively is crucial, and that means getting the best possible prices when buying and selling. This guide provides strategies for maximizing your profits and minimizing your expenses through better prices and effective haggling.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 :  How To Haggle

Improving Base Prices:

Your Reputation with merchants is the single most influential factor in determining the prices you're offered. A poor reputation will result in merchants offering rock-bottom prices for your goods and charging exorbitant amounts for theirs. Conversely, a good reputation will open the door to fairer deals. Maintaining a high reputation is generally straightforward: avoid criminal activity, especially anything that directly affects the merchants themselves. Strive to keep your reputation with individual merchants in the high 90s.Even with an excellent reputation, you'll rarely receive the full listed value of an item when selling without engaging in haggling. Expect to receive around 75-80% of the listed value in a standard transaction.

The Art of Haggling:

Haggling is the key to maximizing your profits. It's a delicate dance of negotiation that can significantly impact your financial standing.

How to Haggle Effectively:

  • Initiating Haggling: When you have items in your trading cart at a merchant, hold down the "close deal" button instead of simply pressing it. This action triggers the haggling process.
  • Adjusting the Price: A price adjustment bar will appear, allowing you to raise or lower the proposed price of the transaction. Carefully move the slider to adjust the price in your favor (lower when buying, higher when selling) or in the merchant's favor.
  • The Negotiation: After you propose a new price, the merchant has two options: accept your offer or counter with a different price. Their counter-offer will typically be closer to the item's market value than your initial offer but will still lean slightly in their favor.
  • Patience is Key: Each haggling attempt depletes the merchant's "patience." The amount of patience lost is directly related to how drastic the price difference is between your offer and the merchant's expected price. Proposing an unreasonably low price when buying or an unreasonably high price when selling will result in a significant loss of patience.
  • The Risk of Walking Away: Closing the haggling menu without completing a transaction will severely damage the merchant's patience with you. Be prepared to make a reasonable counter-offer or risk burning bridges with that merchant.
  • Building Goodwill: Offering a transaction that slightly favors the merchant (a slightly higher price when selling or a slightly lower price when buying) will increase your reputation with them. This positive reputation will make future haggling encounters significantly easier.
  • Additional Factors Influencing Haggling:

    • Speech Perks: Invest in speech-related perks, as some of them directly enhance your haggling skills, making it easier to persuade merchants to accept your offers.
    • Appearance Matters: Your character's appearance, including clothing and cleanliness, can also play a role in haggling success. A well-dressed and presentable character is more likely to be taken seriously and offered better deals.

    Haggling Strategies:

    • Start Conservatively: When selling, begin with a slightly higher price than you realistically expect to get. When buying, start with a slightly lower price.
    • Gauge the Merchant's Reaction: Pay close attention to the merchant's dialogue and body language. If they seem particularly resistant, your offer might be too aggressive.
    • Know When to Walk Away: Don't be afraid to walk away from a deal if you can't reach a mutually agreeable price, but be mindful of the patience mechanic.
    • Cultivate Relationships: Building a strong reputation with merchants is a long-term strategy that yields substantial benefits in the form of better prices and smoother negotiations.
