Welcome to our explanatory guide on How to fix Gray Zone Warfare crashing with precise details.
Since Gray Zone Warfare launched, people have been complaining about the game crashing. A number of updates have centered around the crashes, and the problem has become somewhat less bad because of this. But it is still a big annoyance. The developers have just released Hotfix 0.1.2.3, specifically to fix these problems.
According to the Unreal Engine 5 developers, the latest patch disabled Lumen Async Compute, which was blamed a couple of times for crashing the game. As such, this update should fully get rid of any crashes that may have occurred due to GPU-related issues.
For all that is worth, though, the developers have come clean - these crashes can persist even after the latest patch has been applied. Fortunately, they have provided a fix for those who are still experiencing issues. Below is a short walk-through of the official patch that fixed Gray Zone Warfare from crashing.
Gray Zone Warfare: How to fix crashing
The developers recommend turning off FSR if the game is still crashing in Gray Zone Warfare after this Hotfix and using DLSS instead. Well, it is worth noting that DLSS runs on Nvidia GPUs only, so if you are without it, TSR will be good enough. You can toggle all of these options via the Graphics Preference in GZW.
You can do all that in GZW by doing the following:
- Gray Zone Warfare end.
- Head to Graphics.
- Scroll towards the Advanced section
- Locate Upscaling/Anti-Aliasing
- Flip the setting using the arrows to DLSS/TSR.
As of this writing, that should prevent the game from crashing in Gray Zone Warfare. Going further to help developers trace what causes the crashing, it is recommended you turn the GPU Crash Debugging on.
GZW is very resource-intensive and, as such, can burn through a computer's resources quickly. Check to see if the hardware in your machine at least meets the minimum requirements if you keep crashing.
The complete official GZW system requirements, minimum and recommended alike, are listed below.
Gray Zone Warfare System Requirements: Minimum and Recommended
Gray Zone Warfare has the following minimum requirements to run:
Minimum hardware requirements
- operates best with 64-bit hardware and software.
- OS: most recent version of Windows, 64 bits
- Processor: AMD RyzenTM 5 2600 / Intel® CoreTM i5-8600
- The RAM is 16 GB.
- Minimum: DirectX 12.0; graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080, AMD RadeonTM RX 5700, Intel® ArcTM A770
- Connection: High-speed Internet
- Storage: 40 GB
System requirements - recommended
- Operates best with 64-bit hardware and software.
- Operating System: Windows® 10 (64 Bit) (RTM) or Windows® 11 (64 Bit) (RTM)
- Processor: AMD RyzenTM 5 3600X or Intel® CoreTM i7-9700K
- Hardware: 32 GB of RAM
- Hardware: DirectX 12 GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3070 Ti / AMD RadeonTM RX 6800
- Connection: High-speed Internet
- Storage: 40 GB.
Based on what we understand, the makers of GZW, MADFINGERGames recommend at least an RTX 3070 Ti as the minimum needed to play the game without any snags, while a GTX 1080 is the bare minimum to get the game running. You should not face the crashing issue in Gray Zone Warfare anymore, after having followed these requirements with your system.
In conclusion, knowing How to fix Gray Zone Warfare crashing is interesting because it helps us return to normality of our gameplay in this game.
