Recently published a series of reports where it is alleged that Fortnite executives are basically exploiting workers with excessively demanding work days. As is well known, one of the strengths of Fortnite is that of the constant updating of content during the same season, weekly. However, in the reports shared on various videogame news websites, they mention complaints from several workers, where they mention that they are put to work for too many hours per week, up to 70 hours, in addition to forcing them to fulfill "voluntary" work hours, and even dismissals of personnel are presented if they abstain from not fulfilling them.

After this diversity of reports, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said that they do not have weekly updates for Apex Legends on their list of plans. 9 assured that, instead, they will continue to make seasonal updates (or seasonal), as they have been doing. All this in order to avoid the crisis of development in Respawn (as has happened in Fortnite).

In his statement, Zampella made no reference to Epic Games or Fortnite, nor to the problem that is currently being presented. However, the announcement of the CEO of Respawn came just after a report from the website dedicated to video game news, Polygon, in which it is revealed that Epic Games' ability to produce weekly updates at a high labor cost of levels critical. The report mentions that Epic Games workers work between 70 and 100 hours per week, and that there have even been times of dismissal because some of them have refused to work on weekends, generating a very hostile work environment.

During an interview with Gamasutra, the CEO of Respawn said that "Our intention was to always be in season, so we stayed with that." . "The thought was 'Hey, we have something that is exploding here, do we want to start trying to release more content?' But I think it can be seen in the quality of life of the team, we do not want to work too much on the team and leave aside the quality of the assets we are offering, we want to try and increase that. "

Given all the tension due to the issue of Epic Games with its workers, Vince Zampella made it clear that the update plan for Apex Legends will always be from season to season, even with the Fortnite competition regarding its weekly updates. However, the CEO of Respawn revealed that they are currently studying the pace for the new content of Apex Legends. In this sense, Zampella clarified that currently the seasons of Apex Legends have a duration of "total conjecture", so there is the possibility that they are shorter or longer in the future.

Vince Zampella went on to say that the developer Respawn is clear that season 1 of Apex Legends was very light in terms of content, and that because of this they already have plans to present a better offer in season 2 of the game Battle Royale. "All the resources of the team are focused on making this game in a better position to play. Well, we have enough content, so the seasons are better," said the CEO.
