While you’ll spot fish swimming in the ocean early on, you won’t be able to catch them right away. To start fishing, you’ll need to choose the Angler Life, a rewarding profession that lets you reel in aquatic treasures.

By the end, you’ll be ready to cast your line like a pro and make the most of your Angler career!
Early in the game, after speaking with King Ranoah, you’ll be directed to the Guild Office to pick your first Life (the game’s term for professions). Here’s how to become an Angler:
Visit the Guild Office – Look for the red exclamation mark (!) on your map. Talk to Auntie Anne – She’ll present you with 12 available Lives (two are locked initially). Select "Angler" – Confirm your choice to receive your first fishing quest. ⚠️ Important Note: Before switching to another Life, you must reach Fledgling Rank in your current profession.
Once you’ve chosen the Angler Life, you’ll get the "The Fish, Cat, and Angler" Novice Challenge. Follow these steps:
Meet Angler Master Gramps – He’ll introduce you to the basics. Speak to Sardino – A fellow angler near the docks who tasks you with catching three Sardines. Catch the Sardines – They’re easy to find around the dock area—no need to wander far!
The Angler’s Guild is located east of the main Guild Office, near the docks.
Donate: buy me a coffeeApproach the water and press A (Switch/Xbox) / F (PC) to ready your rod. Wait for a fish to bite, then press the same button to hook it. Reel it in by repeatedly pressing the action button—this depletes the fish’s stamina. Use Power Reel (SP Skill) – Deals extra damage but drains your SP (blue bar). Be careful not to let the line snap from too much tension!

After turning in the Sardines, Sardino will suggest selling extra fish at the Capital for profit. Selling the three Sardines earns you 200 Dosh.
2. Complete Side Quests
A girl in town will ask you to find a special fish—check with a nearby cat for hints on its location!
3. Rank Up to Fledgling
Report back to Master Gramps to advance to Fledgling Rank, unlocking the ability to fish anytime—even if you switch to another Life later.
