Find out How to Get Shackled Beast's Counter in Ender Magnolia Bloom in the Mist with our practical guide today.
These days, parrying's all but requisite in videogames; it adds a layer of depth to combat and involves more skill. After a handful of hours in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist, however, you'll come to notice it's absent. That makes some degree of sense, given the protagonist, Lilac, isn't exactly a fighter. She can summon Homunculi in combat to supplement her abilities, which is known as being an Attuner.
The parrying of opposing assaults with a crushing counter is unlocked at the very moment it seems that dodging is going to be the only option for you in this game. The skill, titled Shackled Beast's Counter, unlocks once you have defeated a certain boss that comes within a few hours of the main story. In this Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist guide, we will take a look at how you can acquire the ability of Counter courtesy of Shackled Beast.
How to Get Shackled Beast's Counter in Ender Magnolia Bloom in the Mist?
The only way to get the Counter ability for Shackled Beast in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is through defeating the boss of the Shackled Beast. Defeating this behemoth is necessary for any player's story progression and for completing the area known as Tethered Steeple. It can be either the third or the fourth major boss you have faced depending on your route after defeating the Black-Winger Huntsman, Yolvan, in Old City - Lower Steeple.
You can find the Shackled Beast boss near Forest Barrier—Entrance, the nearest Respite. A lot more defense is required because this boss doesn't have two stages like Yolvan does, but he deals a lot more damage with each strike. Additionally, his pattern of assault is far more aggressive than anything you've encountered thus far.
Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist: Shackled Beast Strategies
The Shackled Beast might be a heavy hitter, but he isn't very hard to take down because of his very simple move set. Staying behind him and dodging most of his hits becomes easy once you get the hang of his attack patterns.
Primarily, Shackled Beast Attacks
- The boss does a broad area of effect chain swing around himself in a wide circle twice. Another option is for him to advance the chain when the swing is finished.
- Shackled Beast spins his chain quickly before slamming it down on the ground before him, sending a shockwave out where he strikes.
- Rush: Shackles beast crouches down, before charging forwards and attempting to stab you. Shackled Beast cannot be stunned during this attack.
- Shackled Beast will employ the Summon Chain attack when the boss's health drops below 25%. He leaps vertically before slamming onto the arena floor and summons chains diagonally from the ground. You should have at least three Homunculi Abilities with you as you face Shackled Beast. You should also have Muninn available if you visited the Magicite Mine before coming to Tethered Steeples.
During the encounter with the Shackled Beast, try to stay behind the boss for as long as possible. Retrench when he starts the Chain Swing Attack. Inflict some with Lito's Glacial Fist and then evade from boss chain throws so you don't take the damage. If you stay behind the boss, you shouldn't have to bother with the Chain Slam attack. When the Shackled Beast charges towards you, Double Jump and Dash to the opposite direction so you won't be attacked.
You can also dodge the Summon Chain attack without much hassle. In order not to get grabbed by the boss, immediately begin dashing at the screen when it jumps across to the center of the arena. You should try rushing forward to the boss towards the very end for some hits.
Counter of the Shackled Beast: How Does It Work?
To use Shackled Beast's Counter, like all Homunculi Abilities, players will need to equip it from a Respite. There are three variants of the ability:
- Press the ability button as an attack falls to disable an enemy's assault and counter with a spinning chain that deals damage to nearby adversaries.
- Press the ability button the moment it lands a lunging attack that faces straight ahead to counter an enemy assault. This will neutralize the said attack.
- When an opposing strike lands, press the ability button to nullify it and let out a howl that unleashes tremendous damage in return.
- Even though it doesn't deal Break Damage, Benumbed Howl has the widest Area of Effect.
Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist introduces players to the Shackled Beast's Counter, their first parry ability. However, as you progress through the game, you'll encounter Grimoires that allow you to purchase Carapace items from the Craftory. Head back to the Old City Market as soon as you've collected a few Grimoire to see what the store has to offer now. Although they do not quite provide as much counter damage as the Shackled Beast's Counter, these items can also cancel out enemy strikes when equipped.
