How to fix Elden Ring and Shadow Of The Erdtree Corrupted save files?
You play the Elden Ring, and something isn't going your way in terms of saving files. Here goes the step:
Step 1: Verify Game Files
- Open Steam and enter your library.
- Search for Elden Ring: Scroll or search through your library for Elden Ring.
- Right-click on Elden Ring and select the "Properties" option.
- Click on the tab "Local Files."
- On this tab click on "Verify Integrity of Game Files."
- Wait for this to complete. Depending on how many files need scanning and verification, it can take a few minutes.
Step 2: Manual Save File Maintenance
- Find Save Files: Generally, your save files can be found under C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing.
- Create Backup: Copy the .sl2 save file to another folder; this will be your backup. This is just in case of disaster.
- Name Backup: Get the .bak file and remove the ".bak" extension; the backup should be your active save now.
- Turn Off Steam Cloud: Steam Cloud causes a failure to synchronize with its ruin of your fixed save. Disable it for the Game Properties. Go to the "General" tab, click in the box next to "Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud" to uncheck that.
Step 3: Test and Repair
- Launch Elden Ring: Boot the game and see if it was repaired.
- Use ER Save Repair (Optional) : If manual repair doesn't work, you can try to repair the save through ER Save Repair. Download it from an official source and run it.
ER Save Repair Instructions:
- Start the Program : Start the ER Save Repair application.
- Your Steam ID to Repair: Enter your Steam ID to Repair the save. You can get your Steam ID from a folder that has all your save games you have.
- Album: Select which save file you would like to be fixed
- Save Slots: Indicate how many number of save slots the game has
- Fix it.: Click "Run" and stay back until the process is complete. Do not touch your mouse or keyboard while the process is running.
