When you're first given your party, the game will randomly generate a party of partners for you. They're good enough but they're not the best, let's put it that way. If you don't like how your party looks in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, there is a way to customize your party's gender and appearance. A little ways into the game, you'll reach a city with two NPCs who can assist you with just that. Stuff in this world isn't cheap, so you'll be paying for them.

How To Change Appearance in Dragon Quest 3 Remake?

You can't change the Hero's gender or appearance in Dragon Quest III Remake. Leave the above two NPCs alone, no matter how much you have unlocked in their city. They will obstinately refuse to change your appearance, no matter how much you try to force them, insisting that you are absolutely fine just the way you are. I think I chose a wrong body type when I first started the game, so that's a bit of a letdown. Honestly, though, they do look quite similar; I only learned my mistake when I heard the Hero's voice.

Party Member Appearance Adjustment

Although you cannot change the Hero's appearance in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you are able to alter your companions' appearances. That said, you have to unlock the Alltrades Abbey first as it is an area that you will unlock much later in the game itself. Be that as it may, here is the gist of it:

Enter the portal and make your way to Romaria.
Grab Robbin Hood's crown.
Take the Blue Key back inside the Pyramid.
Cross the bridge to get to Portoga.
After talking with the king go to Baharata.

Either skip off to Alltrades Abbey or rush and save the woman. You will be back in this town either way. This place is to the north of Baharata. Although you can enter the building, the two NPCs who can change the appearance and names of your party members are outside. They're available only during the day, and you'll have to use the services of an inn if you don't want to wait it out with the in-game clock.

To name your allies, talk to the woman to the west. If you'd like to change their appearance, then talk with the submissive monster to the east. She won't be able to change your ally's gender in the Dragon Quest III Remake, so go ahead and gather a new crew at the local waterin' hole by rounding up all males or all females.
