How to Beat King K. Rool in Donkey Kong Bananza

In Donkey Kong Bananza, your epic journey through the planet's layers culminates in a showdown with the nefarious King K. Rool at the planet's core, where the mysterious Bananergy resides. After a pivotal cutscene reveals K. Rool's wish being granted and a subsequent power-up, it's up to Donkey Kong to defeat him and retrieve the Banandium Root. This final battle is a multi-phase encounter that demands strategic use of Donkey Kong's various Bananza transformations.

Donkey Kong Bananza:  Beat King K. Rool

Phase 1: Ranged Projectiles

King K. Rool begins this phase with a single, long-range attack, firing large projectiles from a cannon launcher. You can approach this phase with either a far-range or close-range strategy.

• Far-Range Battle (Kong and Elephant Bananza):
  • When K. Rool fires a projectile, transform into Kong Bananza.
  • Charge your attack (hold punch) and smash the projectile just as it gets close. This will reflect it back at K. Rool, stunning him and causing nearby terrain to scatter into debris.
  • While K. Rool is stunned, quickly switch to Elephant Bananza.
  • Use the "Trunk Chunk" feature to inhale the scattered debris.
  • Once you have stored debris, fire it back at K. Rool.
  • Repeat this process, re-stunning him with reflected projectiles and then attacking with stored debris, until his health is significantly depleted.
• Close-Ranged Battle (Zebra and Kong Bananza):
  • Transform into Zebra Bananza and dash rapidly towards K. Rool to close the distance quickly and potentially dodge incoming projectiles.
  • Once in close proximity, switch to Kong Bananza.
  • Unleash as much damage as you can. K. Rool will attempt to counter by swinging his cannon.
  • If you hit him rapidly, it will temporarily stagger him, providing more opportunities to inflict damage.

Phase 2: Summoned Weapons and Gold Debris

Once King K. Rool's health is approximately halved, he will jumpaway, creating distance, and begin to summon additional weapons with his hands.

• Strategy: The Zebra and Kong Bananza combination remains highly effective here for quick dashes and close-range damage.
• Gold Debris: During his attacks, more gold debris will scatter around the arena.
• Elephant Bananza Option: You can choose to utilize Elephant Bananza to inhale and store this gold debris, then use it as a ranged attack against K. Rool when opportunities arise.
• Phase End: Continue to chip away at his health. Once his health bar reaches zero,Phase 2 concludes, and a cutscene will play showing DK and Pauline'swish being granted by a horde of bananas, pushing them through theplanet's layers.

Phase 3: The True Final Battle

The game cleverly uses a "fake out" ending with credits rolling, only forKing K. Rool to awaken and continue the pursuit. This phase is anon-rails segment where you're primarily on a golden banana base.

• Initial Engagement: K. Rool will attempt to hit you with projectiles from either side of your golden banana base.
• Counter-Attack: Use Kong Bananza to grab the large golden banana on your base and hurl it directly at King K. Rool.
• Mid-Phase Shift: After striking him three times, the perspective will change. King K. Rool will then try to strike you from above.
  • Avoid: Watch for purple rings highlighting areas on your base and quickly move out of them to dodge his attacks.
• Repeat Cycle: After his aerial attack, K. Rool will return to the base level. Youmust then repeat the process of throwing golden bananas at him.
• Shrinking Arena: This cycle will repeat two more times. Each time, your golden bananabase will progressively shrink, making evasion more challenging.
• Final Stand: For the third and final instance, K. Rool will shrink your base to itsbare minimum. He will once again lower himself to your level and attempt to strike. Continue to throw the golden bananas at him until youfinally defeat him, triggering the true ending cutscene.

Mastering your Bananza transformations and adapting to King K. Rool's attackpatterns are crucial for emerging victorious in this multi-stage finalboss battle.
