Peak, a challenging climbing survival game, tests players' endurance and strategic thinking across five distinct biomes, each presenting its own set of environmental hazards and survival demands. To successfully escape the mysterious island and earn achievements, understanding how to navigate and survive each biome is crucial.

Peak: How To Survive Each Biome

How To Survive The Shore

The Shore is your starting point and the easiest biome to survive.
  • Initial Plane Wreckage: Inside the plane carcass, you'll find a compass, bugle, lantern, and Bing Bong (the airline mascot). For initial runs, it's best to leave these unless you're aiming for specific achievements. The lantern becomes useful on higher difficulties (Ascent 5+) to counteract a cold debuff at night.
  • Dangers:
    • Jellyfish: Cause poison and make you slip. Avoid contact.
    • Poison Urchin: Inflict poison upon touch. Avoid contact.
    • Collapsing Bridges: Wooden bridges can collapse if too many players are on them or you linger too long. Listen for creaking sounds and cross quickly.
  • Food & Resources: Gather coconuts and cook them on the initial campfire. Cooked coconuts provide substantial energy and stamina.
  • Strategy: The Shore is ideal for learning basic climbing mechanics and gathering initial resources. Focus on finding a safe route to the first campfire.

How To Survive The Tropics

The Tropics is often considered the second-most difficult biome due to its numerous dangers and dynamic environment.
  • Food Dangers: Beyond initial luggage, learn to identify safe foods.
    • Poisonous Berries: Green Crispberries, Yellow Crispberries, Green Kingberries, Pink Berrynanas (all cause poison).
    • Scorchberries: (cause heat debuff).
    • Mushrooms: Not all are safe; learn to distinguish edible ones.
  • Environmental Hazards & Climbing Tips:
    • Rain: Avoid climbing during rain. It slows you down and drains stamina/energy faster. Wait it out under cover.
    • Vines: Utilize vines for traversal. They use less stamina than regular climbing and help reach high ledges.
    • Spiked Roots: Cause poison. Find ways around or under them; if unavoidable, move quickly to minimize poison buildup.
    • Sploding Bush: Orange, larger than Gassy Bushes. Explode on contact, sending you flying. Go around or throw objects to detonate from a safe distance.
    • Gassy Bush: Bursts poisonous gas on contact. Go around or detonate from afar.
    • Tick: Attaches to you, slowly poisoning and growing larger. Impossible to avoid. Remove it yourself or have a teammate remove it. You can even eat it once removed for food!
    • Beehive: Contains valuable food (honeycomb) but bees will chase and poison you. Throw objects to dislodge it or grab it and run until bees give up.
  • Difficulty Adjustment: If struggling, try "Tenderfoot" difficulty to remove the time limit (rising fog) and practice routes.

How To Survive The Alpine

The Alpine replaces rain with blizzards and introduces new cold-related dangers.

  • Dangers:

    • Frostbite: Caused by blizzards or touching dark blue ice rocks. Reduces max stamina.
    • Geysers: Steam vents that erupt when approached, launching you into the air if too close. Can provide warmth if at a safe distance.
    • Flashpods: Explode with a blinding flash, obstructing vision. Found inside the mountain.
  • Cold Avoidance:

    • Overhangs: Seek shelter under rock overhangs during blizzards to block winds.
    • Heat Pack: Found in luggage, provides temporary protection from cold. (Counts as packaged food if going for Naturalist badge).
    • Lantern: Keep lit in your backpack.
    • Scorchberries: From Tropics, can be used for warmth.
  • Climbing Tips:

    • Time Climbs: Time your ascents during breaks in blizzards.
    • Pitons: Old pitons on the mountain can be used for temporary holds, but they break quickly. Don't linger.
    • Rope Cannon/Shelf Fungus: Better, more durable climbing aids for vertical ascent.
  • Capybara Hot Spring: Look for a hot spring with capybaras. It contains two YellowWinterberries (removes hunger, refills energy) and instantly removes the cold debuff. You can also get the Animal Serenading Badge here with abugle.

How To Survive The Caldera

The Caldera's primary threat is rising and falling lava, making it surprisingly manageable if you play carefully.

  • Primary Danger:

    • Lava: Lava rises and falls at intervals. Falling into it when it's high is fatal. Do not move when lava is rising.
  • Strategy:

    • Wait for Low Lava: Only move when the lava is low.
    • Platform Hopping: Jump from rock to rock or quickly run across hot surfaces betweenpillars. You'll take minimal fire damage, which dissipates quickly onsafe platforms.
    • Chains: Chains connect pillars, functioning like vines in the Tropics for horizontal traversal.
  • Heat Damage Mitigation: Drink sports drinks, energy drinks, or Cure All to quickly remove heat effects.
  • Food: The only natural food source here is eggs found in nests. Throw them to crack, then cook on a heated rock for a huge energy boost and hunger reduction. Don't overcook!

How To Survive The Kiln

The Kiln is the final and most unforgiving biome, a direct vertical climb inside the volcano.

  • Primary Danger: Falling. The lava no longer rises, but the climb itself is extremely challenging.
  • Climbing Difficulty: Early sections have easy rocks, but it becomes progressively harder with tight spaces and blind climbs.
  • Essential Items to Bring:

    • Chain launchers: (2-3 recommended) – Excellent for rapid vertical ascent.
    • Rope cannons: For establishing long climbing paths.
    • Anti-rope or Anti-rope cannons: Useful for specific situations.
    • Sports drink: For quick energy boosts.
    • Food: Crucial, as there's no natural food source. Bring at least one food item (cooked foods are more efficient).
  • Strategy:

    • Stamina Management: This is paramount. Plan your route carefully to conserve stamina.
    • Hot Rocks: It's possible to climb hot rocks, but do so quickly. You'll take heat damage, but it subsides once you reach a cooler spot.
    • Conserve Climbing Aids: Don't use your chain launchers, rope cannons, or other climbing aidstoo early. Save them for the latter, more difficult sections of theclimb (ideally past halfway).
    • Ghost Teammates: Ifplaying co-op and a teammate falls, their "ghost" can be invaluable forscouting ahead and providing intel on upcoming paths.
