Discover How to unlock the Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred with this excellent and detailed explanatory guide.
New to Diablo 4 with the Vessel of Hatred addition is the Kurast Undercity. Those who have played through the series before might recognize the format, which takes a page out of Diablo 2's Lower Kurast challenge. The players are lowered into a timed dungeon in the dark underbelly of Kurast, where they must make their way through multiple levels, destroying opponents to gain time back, and ultimately battle three District Bosses to earn huge rewards.
Learn everything you need to know about the Kurast Undercity in this comprehensive guide. We'll show you how to unlock the activity and give you the rundown on the challenge's special features. Getting a handle on all the mechanics is easy after you've done a few runs, even though it could appear daunting at first.
How to unlock the Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred
In order to gain access to the Kurast Undercity, you must go to Chapter 3 in the campaign, then finish the Reunion quest by returning to Kurast to meet up with Neyrelle and report back to the Council. The Kurast Undercity, a Priority quest in purple, is accessible from Ormus in the Council chambers in Kurast once the conversation ends.
According to the wise old man, Kurast, also known as the Undercity, conceals a great deal beneath its surface. It is your responsibility to locate a councillor named Sihek who has gone missing. Find the entrance to the Undercity on the map and get there. Once you locate Councilor Sihek, you can start a new quest named Undercity: Wail of the Forgotten by returning to the entrance and speaking with him. Get the key to the Kurast Undercity by finishing it.
To access the Undercity, open a portal by interacting with the Spirit Brazier located to the left of the entryway. Priority Quests cover the fundamentals of the dungeon's mechanics, such as its three-district layout, and are part of your initial few visits:
- Underground: Travincal's Mysteries
- Underground City: The Hope
- Starving Pride in the Undercity
- The city below: Sihek
- After you've finished all of these, you'll have unlimited access to the dungeon.
The best way to extend your stay in the Kurast Subcity
To begin the dungeon, you have one hundred seconds. As soon as you go outside the spirit barrier at the beginning of each floor, the timer will begin to tick down. The mini-map will have an orange hourglass icon to indicate Afflicted Monsters and Aflicted buildings, which you must locate, kill, or demolish in order to gain time benefits. Here are some examples of the time extensions granted by various Afflicted Monsters and Afflicted structures:
Afflicted Monster / Structure
- Time Bonus:
- Minor Afflicted: 1 second
- Lesser Afflicted: 8 seconds
- Lesser Afflicted (Named): 14 seconds
- Afflicted Structure: 15 seconds
- Greater Afflicted: 30 seconds
A tuning in
The amount and rarity of the awards you'll receive for finishing the dungeon are determined by your Attunement Rank, which is displayed on a blue gauge on the right side of the screen as you load into the Undercity. Loot quality increases with rank.
Beating all the monsters that spawn around Spirit Beacons and Grand Spirit Beacons will win you a tiny bit of Attunement, but lighting them and igniting them will earn you a much bigger amount. Tiny blue flames appear on the mini-map to indicate these buildings. Activating one will cause multiple adversaries to appear and attach themselves to the building. Aside from a minor improvement to movement speed and cooldown length, you will receive a significant increase to Attunement when you defeat all of the tethered foes.
Honors and Sales
Two slots, Tributes and Bargains, will appear on the left side of the Spirit Brazier when you engage with it in Kurast. You can change the types of rewards you'll receive for finishing the Undercity districts by using tributes, which are difficulty modifiers.
How can one obtain tributes?
Various events and activities in Sanctuary, such as Nightmare Dungeons and Infernal Hordes, provide Tributes as a reward. Dungeon Keys are what you'll find them on the corresponding tab in your inventory.
There is a Time Bonus Penalty and a Potion Drop Penalty associated with every reward enhancement that a Tribute grants. Take the Tribute of Pride, for instance. It's yours after you finish the Undercity quest chain. If you use the Tribute, you'll earn Legendaries, but you'll have to deal with floor transitions and afflicted kills taking 15% less time, and healing potions dropping 20% less often. In order for the Tribute to be effective, you must clear the Undercity dungeon with an Attunement Rank of 1 or higher.
You can further personalize your rewards if you open the Bargains slot after choosing Tribute. Weapons, armour, and jewelry are only some of the rewards that can be enhanced by exchanging resources like as Iron Chunks, Murmuring Obols, Veiled Crystals, and Bundled Herbs.
After interacting with the Spirit Brazier, go to your inventory and find the Dungeon Keys section. From there, choose a Tribute to utilize. Select the resource you want to give as a Bargain by tapping the Bargain slot. Click the red Open Portal button to enter the Kurast Undercity and activate the modifiers.
City leaders in Kurast
There are three sections to the Kurast Dungeon: the Ziggurat, the Temple, and the Caves. Each run will take you to a different District, and you'll have to make it through three levels before you reach the boss level. Repeatedly, you will face up against the same District Boss:
- Ziggurat District: This could be a district known for its tall, stepped tower structures.
- Temple District: A district primarily dedicated to religious or spiritual activities.
- Caves District: A region characterized by underground caverns or tunnels.
- The Nest: This might be a hidden or secluded area, perhaps a lair or breeding ground.
- The Coil: A winding, labyrinthine area or passageway.
- Alia, Kurast’s End: This could be a specific location within the Kurast region, possibly a city or village.
- Longtooth, The Wretched: A character or location associated with misery or misfortune.
- The Chapel: A place of worship, possibly smaller or less formal than a temple.
- Yoche, The Golden: A person, place, or object associated with wealth or luxury.
Keep in mind that the timer vanishes and no longer applies after you reach the boss floor of each district. Seeking out Damaged Monsters and Structures is superfluous.
We hope that the information detailed here on How to unlock the Kurast Undercity in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred has been very useful for your enjoyment and progress in this busy game.
