Destiny 2: The Final Shape introduced the new Rocket-Assisted frame for sidearms, and with The Edge of Fate, this explosive archetype expands to include the first Rocket-Assisted pulse rifle: Mint Retrograde. This 200 RPM special weapon is a Strand-elemental pulse rifle, designed for high damage and synergy with other rocket-based effects. It aims to kick off a new line of Rocket-Assisted pulse rifles, similar to how The Call led the sidearm category. Here are the recommended PvE and PvP "god rolls" for Mint Retrograde in Destiny 2:

Destiny 2: How to get Mint Retrograde god rolls

Mint Retrograde PvE God Roll
  • Barrel: Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: Appended Mag
  • Perk One (Column 3): Rewind Rounds
  • Perk Two (Column 4): One for All
  • Masterwork: Velocity

Explanation of PvE Perks:

  • Smart Drift Control: A balanced barrel option that boosts stability, handling, and recoil direction, making the weapon feel more consistent.
  • Appended Mag: Increases magazine size, allowing for more shots before reloading. This synergizes exceptionally well with Rewind Rounds.
  • Rewind Rounds: This powerful perk refills a portion of the magazine from reserves based on the number of hits when the magazine is empty. This significantly reduces downtime spent reloading, especially with Mint Retrograde's inherent low magazine size (5 shots).
  • One for All: Grants a substantial 35% increased damage buff for a short duration after hitting three separate targets. This is incredibly easy to trigger in PvE encounters against groups of enemies, providing a massive and consistent damage boost.
  • Velocity Masterwork: Increases projectile speed, which can be beneficial for hitting distant targets and making the rocket-assisted projectiles feel more responsive.
Alternative PvE Perks:

Mint Retrograde offers a deep perk pool for PvE, allowing for various build synergies:

  • Column 3:

    • Hatchling: Creates Strand Threadlings on precision final blows, great for Strand builds.
    • Envious Assassin: Overflow the magazine by getting final blows with other weapons beforeswitching to Mint Retrograde, excellent for burst damage setups.
  • Column 4:

    • Slice: Applying a debuff to enemies you damage with this weapon, which is great for overall damage output.
    • Elemental Honing: A unique perk that enhances specific elemental buffs on your character after a certain condition.
    • Chain Reaction: Each final blow creates an elemental damage explosion, great for add clear.
    • Bait and Switch: A powerful damage perk (35% damage bonus) that activates after dealingdamage with all your weapons within a short window, ideal for dedicateddamage rotations.

Mint Retrograde PvP God Roll

  • Barrel: Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Perk One (Column 3): Beacon Rounds
  • Perk Two (Column 4): Master of Arms
  • Masterwork: Velocity

Explanation of PvP Perks:

  • Smart Drift Control: Provides consistent stats for better handling and recoil.
  • High-Velocity Rounds: Increases projectile speed, making it easier to land hits on moving targets in the Crucible. Also increases blast radius.
  • Beacon Rounds: After a kill, this perk significantly increases reload speed and grants tracking to the subsequent projectiles, making follow-up kills easier.
  • Master of Arms: Grants an increased damage buff after a kill, stacking up to two times for a 25% damage increase. This helps with snowballing after an initial pick.
  • Velocity Masterwork: Critical for projectile weapons in PvP to minimize travel time and lead on targets.

PvP Viability Note:

While a PvP roll exists, Rocket-Assisted pulse rifles (and projectile weapons in general) can be inconsistent in the Crucible due to enemy movement.Mint Retrograde is unlikely to outperform top-tier special weapons likeshotguns and fusion rifles in most PvP scenarios. Its primary strengthlies in PvE.

How to Get Mint Retrograde in Destiny 2

Mint Retrograde is obtained from Pinnacle Ops activities within The Portal.

  • Pinnacle Ops: These are higher-difficulty activities, primarily Exotic missions such as Encore, Kell’s Fall, and The Whisper. They have a separate loot pool compared to Solo or Fireteam Ops.
  • Bonus Focus: Each day, at least one activity in The Portal will have a Bonus Focus item. When Mint Retrograde is the Bonus Focus, it's a guaranteed reward from completing that activity, allowing for targeted farming.Otherwise, you'll need to rely on luck from general Pinnacle Opscompletions.

Enhanced Perks:

To obtain enhanced perks on a weapon from The Edge of Fate, you typicallyneed to acquire a Tier 2 copy of that weapon. To increase your chancesof getting better loot, including higher-tier weapons, focus oncompleting higher difficulty missions within The Portal and increasingyour overall Power Level.
