How to Repair Bikes/Vehicles in Death Stranding 2

In Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, traversing vast, treacherous landscapes is a core challenge. Early on, Sam Bridges lacks advanced gear, forcing players to navigate harsh terrain on foot. However, vehicles drastically improve mobility, allowing faster travel and increased cargo capacity.
If you're struggling with long journeys, securing a vehicle early can be a game-changer. Here’s everything you need to know about unlocking, finding, and maintaining vehicles in Death Stranding 2.

When Are Vehicles Unlocked in Death Stranding 2?

Story Progression Unlocks the First Vehicle

Players won’t have access to vehicles immediately. If you’re playing offline, you must progress through the main story until Order No. 6 is completed. After this, the game notifies you that vehicle construction is available at terminals.
The first vehicle you can craft is the Tri-Cruiser, a basic but essential ride for covering long distances efficiently. Depending on your playstyle, it may take up to five hours before this option unlocks.

Alternative Ways to Get Vehicles Early

1. Play Online & Find Abandoned Vehicles

If you enable online features, you might stumble upon abandoned vehicles left by other players. The shared-world system means bikes, trucks, or other transports can appear in your game unexpectedly.
However, this method relies on luck—another player must leave a vehicle behind, and it must sync to your server instance. Still, checking distribution centers and rest stops early on could reward you with a free ride.

2. Raid Brigand Camps for Stolen Vehicles

Enemy outposts sometimes have usable vehicles, though they’re often damaged. While these stolen rides can’t berepaired permanently, they provide a temporary boost for earlydeliveries.

Keep in mind:

  • Brigand vehicles deteriorate over time and will eventually break down.
  • They’re best used for short-term transport before acquiring a permanent vehicle.

How to Repair Vehicles in Death Stranding 2

Vehicles take damage from timefall rain, rough terrain, and collisions. To keep them running smoothly, follow these steps:

  • Drive to a Garage – Found at major bases, garages are marked by a circular parking zone.
  • Park Inside the Ring – Position the vehicle correctly for repairs.
  • Press O (PS5) / Corresponding Button – Sam will automatically fix the vehicle for free.
  • Why Repairing Matters

    • Restores Durability – Prevents breakdowns mid-delivery.
    • Recharges Battery – Ensures your vehicle doesn’t run out of power in remote areas.

Making regular pit stops at garages is crucial for maintaining efficiency, especially before long hauls.

Final Tips for Vehicle Use in Death Stranding 2

    • Prioritize Crafting the Tri-Cruiser – It’s the most reliable early-game vehicle.
    • Check Online Frequently – Other players’ abandoned vehicles can save time.
    • Use Brigand Vehicles Sparingly – They’re temporary but helpful in a pinch.
    • Repair Often – A well-maintained ride ensures smoother deliveries.

By securing and maintaining vehicles efficiently, you’ll conquer Death Stranding 2’s vast landscapes with ease. Happy delivering, Porter!
