The Chiral Antigravity Device in
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is an incredibly useful tool for managing Sam's cargo, especially in the early stages of the game when other transport options are limited. It effectively reduces the perceived weight of your load, allowing you to carry more and stumble less.2 Despite its practicality, the game doesn't always make its unlock or usage immediately obvious.
Here's a clear breakdown of how to get the Chiral Antigravity Device in
Death Stranding 2 and how to craft and use it.
How to Unlock the Chiral Antigravity Device in Death Stranding 2
To unlock the schematic for the Chiral Antigravity Device, you must reach
Connection Level 2 with The Government's Base facility in Australia.
- Location of The Government's Base: This base becomes available shortly after you finish the prologue in Mexico and arrive in Australia. It's often one of the first major facilities you'll encounter in the Australian region, typically as part of Order 9: Deliver the Chiral Decontaminator to The Government's Base.
- Building Your Connection Level: To boost your connection level with The Government's Base, you need to actively engage with it. This involves:
- Returning lost cargo that is addressed to The Government's Base.
- Completing sub-orders that are tied to the base.
- Fulfilling Aid Requests from Old Oz, the Prepper stationed there.
- Delivering Standard Orders that originate from or terminate at The Government's Base.
Reaching Connection Level 2 with The Government's Base is a relatively quick process if you prioritize deliveries and requests for this facility. Once you hit Level 2, the blueprint for the Chiral Antigravity Device will be silently unlocked in your Backpack Customization options. There typically isn't a flashy notification, so be sure to check your fabrication menu after reaching the required connection level.
How to Craft and Use the Chiral Antigravity Device in Death Stranding 2
Once you've unlocked the schematic by raising your connection with The Government's Base, you'll need materials to craft it.
- Crafting Materials: To fabricate one Chiral Antigravity Device, you'll need:
- 100 Chiral Crystals
- 80 Special Alloy
- 60 Chemical
The Chiral Antigravity Device takes up 1x2 grid space on your backpack. A key feature of this device is that you can equip multiple antigravity devices on your backpack to boost the weight reduction effect.9 This stacking strategy is especially helpful early in the game whentransport options like vehicles or Floating Carriers are limited. Each device typically adds +10 kg to Sam's effective carrying capacity, meaning he can carry more without becoming unbalanced or sufferingstamina penalties.
Follow these steps after unlocking the schematic to craft and equip the device:
Head to any facility terminal (or a Private Room terminal).Open Fabrication Management.Navigate to Backpack Customization.Choose Add > Components.Select the Chiral Antigravity Device from the available list of components. If you have all the required materials, you can craft it.After crafting, place it on your backpack grid. The weight reduction effect activates automatically once it's attached; you don't need to manually activate it. It continuously helps balance the load and reduces Sam's chance of stumbling, making heavy deliveries much more manageable.
