Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is the latest installment in the beloved Castlevania series. An action-adventure roguelike, this game sees you exploring a castle filled with monsters and bosses, all while gaining new weapons, skills, and equipment. One of the most exciting additions to the game is the variety of outfits that you can unlock and wear. 

Outfits Acquired Through Tasks


One of the quickest ways to obtain outfits in Dead Cells Return to Castlevania is by completing certain tasks. These tasks can range from completing a certain number of dungeons, to killing a certain number of enemies, to collecting a certain number of items. These tasks are usually given to you by NPCs, and completing them will reward you with a unique outfit. 

  • NPCs: NPCs can be found throughout the game, and some of them will give you tasks or quests to complete. Completing these tasks or quests will often reward you with an outfit, though the type of outfit you receive may vary from NPC to NPC. It’s worth talking to every NPC you come across and seeing what tasks they have for you. 
  • Secret Areas: Throughout your travels, you may come across secret areas that you can explore. These areas often contain unique items, powerful weapons, and sometimes even outfits. Be sure to explore all of the secret areas you come across, as you never know what you may find. 
  • Storyline Progression: As you progress through the story, you’ll often unlock new outfits. These outfits are usually tied to the story and can only be obtained after completing certain milestones.

In addition to acquiring outfits through tasks and storyline progression, you can also obtain outfits by farming certain mobs. Certain mobs drop specific outfits, so it is important to know which mobs drop which outfits.

The following mobs have a chance to drop the following outfits: 
  • Undead – can drop the Skeleton outfit 
  • Imps – can drop the Imp outfit 
  • Mummies – can drop the Mummy outfit 
  • Giant Spiders – can drop the Spider outfit 
  • Wraiths – can drop the Wraith outfit 
  • Gargoyles – can drop the Gargoyle outfit 

Farm Locations 

The following locations are the best places to farm for these outfits: 

  • Undead – can be found in the Graveyard and the Catacombs 
  • Imps – can be found in the Tower of Evermore and the Catacombs 
  • Mummies – can be found in the Catacombs 
  • Giant Spiders – can be found in the Tower of Evermore and the Catacombs 
  • Wraiths – can be found in the Tower of Evermore and the Catacombs 
  • Gargoyles – can be found in the Tower of Evermore 

Boss-Related Outfits


Some of the outfits in the game are related to the bosses you fight. You’ll need to collect and activate Boss Stem Cells in order to unlock these outfits. Additionally, some of these outfits come in variants and can be unlocked by completing various tasks in the game.

Flawless Versions


Finally, there are some outfits that can only be unlocked by defeating the DLC bosses without taking any damage. These outfits are considered flawless versions of the regular outfits, and can only be acquired by players who are able to complete the DLC without taking any damage.



With all of the different outfits in Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, you’ll never run out of options for how you want to customize your character. Unlocking these outfits will take some dedication and effort, but the rewards are well worth it.
