How to Install Flashlight Mod in Cyberpunk 2077

Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 is a sprawling metropolis known for its dark alleys, neon-lit streets, and pervasive grime. While the atmosphere is undoubtedly immersive, the lack of a built-in flashlight can make navigating dimly lit areas, particularly during nighttime hours or inside certain buildings, a challenging and frustrating experience for players trying to locate quest items or simply explore.

Is There a Flashlight in Cyberpunk 2077?

Typically, No.Unfortunately, as of the extensive 2.0 and even the recent 2.3 updates (which introduced new vehicles and an AutoDrive feature on July 17, 2025), a dedicated flashlight feature has not been implemented in the base game of Cyberpunk 2077. This has been a long-standing request from the community.However, for PC players, there is an excellent solution available in the form of a mod.

How to Install & Use the Simple Flashlight Mod in Cyberpunk 2077

The "Simple Flashlight Mod" for Cyberpunk 2077 is a highly effectivesolution that integrates seamlessly into the game without detractingfrom its atmosphere. It does, however, require a couple of prerequisitemod installations.

Required Mods:

Cyber Engine Tweaks: This is a foundational modding framework for Cyberpunk 2077 that enables various other mods to function.

Native Settings UI: This mod allows other mods to create in-game settings menus, which is crucial for customizing the flashlight.

Installation Steps:

Download Required Mods:

• Download "Cyber Engine Tweaks" and "Native Settings UI" from reputable modding websites like Nexus Mods.

Locate Game Directory:

• Navigate to your Cyberpunk 2077 installation directory. The exact path will vary depending on where you installed the game andwhich storefront you purchased it from (e.g., Steam, GOG, Epic GamesStore).
• A common Steam path might be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk2077
• You'll know you're in the correct folder if you see a bin folder within it.

Install Cyber Engine Tweaks:

• Extract the contents of the "Cyber Engine Tweaks" downloaded file.
• Copy the contents of the 'root' folder from the extracted mod files directly into your Cyberpunk 2077 game directory. This should place files intothe existing bin folder.

Install Native Settings UI:

• Extract the contents of the "Native Settings UI" downloaded file.
• Copy the extracted folder into the same Cyberpunk 2077 game directory (the one containing /bin and /r6).

Install Simple Flashlight Mod:

• Download the "Simple Flashlight Mod" and extract its contents.
• Place the extracted folder into the same Cyberpunk 2077 game directory. Thefinal folder structure for the flashlight mod should resemble: Cyberpunk2077\bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\mods\flashlight\init.lua

Launch Game and Configure Hotkey:

• Load up Cyberpunk 2077.
• The first time you launch the game with Cyber Engine Tweaks, a prompt willappear asking you to set a hotkey to open its overlay console. Choose a key and save it.
• Once in-game, open the Cyber Engine Tweaks overlay (using your chosen hotkey) and go to its bindings menu.
• Select a hotkey for toggling the flashlight on and off.
• If you are using a controller on PC, the flashlight toggle is automatically assigned to pressing and holding left on the d-pad.

Customize Flashlight (Optional):

• For further customization, access the "Mods" menu within Native SettingsUI. Here, you can adjust the flashlight's color, brightness, size,softness, and range to your preference.

Troubleshooting:

• Crashes with 2.3 Update: Some players have reported that Cyber Engine Tweaks can cause crasheswith Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 update. If you encounter this, try clearingthe game's cache located at: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077\cache and then restart the game.
