Respeccing your Vault Hunter is a crucial part of the
Borderlands experience, allowing you to experiment with different builds and adapt to new challenges without starting from scratch.
Borderlands 4 continues this tradition by providing players with a dedicated way to reset their skill points and specialization points. For players looking to reallocate their hard-earned skill points, respec machines are the answer. Here's a comprehensive guide on where to find them and how the cost works.
Borderlands 4: How to Respec Skills & Specializations
Where to Find Respec Machines
Respec machines are conveniently located in all major Faction Towns and Safehouses across the planet of
Kairos and beyond. You can spot a respec machine's location on your map and compass by a small, white icon featuring a person inside a recycling symbol. Here are the confirmed locations of respec stations:
- The Launchpad (The Howl, The Fadefields): You will unlock this location and the first respec machine after completing the "Down and Outbound" main story quest.
- Belton's Bore (The Low Leys, Terminus Range)
- Carcadia (Ruined Sumplands, Carcadia Burn)
- The Lockaway (Carcadia District, Dominion)
- The Food Court (Terminus District, Dominion)
- Sumpview Falls (Fades District, Dominion)
When you approach one of these pod-like machines, it will open and prompt you to begin the respec process.
How Respeccing Works and Its Cost
There are two types of respecs available, each with a different cost:
- Respeccing Skills: This will reset all the skill points you have invested into yourcharacter's three main skill trees. The cost to respec is paid within-game Cash. The price is not fixed; instead, it scales withyour character's level and the amount of skill points you haveallocated. This can range from a few thousand dollars at low levels toover a million dollars at the endgame.
- Respeccing Specializations: This resets the points you've put into your Specialization tree, whichare unlocked after completing the main campaign. The cost for this is asignificant amount of Eridium (around 5,000 Eridium for a full reset), so it's a decision you should make carefully.
Once you pay the fee, you'll be taken to your character's skill tree. Themachine allows you to re-spec your entire skill tree at once, or you can choose to reset a single tree to reallocate those points. After payingthe initial fee, you can experiment and change your build as many timesas you want before exiting the machine. The fee is only applied uponyour initial entry into the respec menu, so you are free to try outdifferent combinations until you are satisfied with your new build.
Respeccing is a key part of Borderlands 4's gameplay loop, giving players the freedom to adapt to new challengesand find the perfect build to suit their playstyle. With the respecmachines available in every major hub, you'll always have theopportunity to tweak your Vault Hunter into the ultimate engine ofdestruction.
