How to Find the Shrek Easter Egg in Borderlands 4

As in every Borderlands game, Borderlands 4 is packed with pop culture references and Easter eggs. One of the most beloved and easy-to-find secrets is a direct reference to the animated film Shrek, featuring a pair of enemies named Wreck and Burro. This special encounter can be found early in the game, and while it doesn't offer a unique legendary weapon to farm, it is a fun diversion and an important stop for completionists.Here's a guide on where to find this Easter egg and what you can expect from the encounter.

Borderlands 4: Shrek Easter Egg Location

The Shrek Easter egg is located in the Mirehome point of interest. This area is situated in the Idolator's Noose region, on the southern edge of the map, within the larger starting area known as The Fadefields. Due to its early-game location, you won't face much resistance on your way there.

• Travel to Idolator's Noose: After completing the game's prologue, head to the southern part of the map to enter the Idolator's Noose region.
• Locate Mirehome: Mirehome is a small, swampy area near the Wyclef's Reprieve safe house and a location called Fortress Indomita. It is a small town with a large willow tree.
• Find the "Keep Out" Path: Once you reach Mirehome, you'll see a small path leading into asecluded area. The path is littered with "keep out" signs. Follow thispath to enter the swamp.
• Encounter Wreck: As you venture deeper into the swamp, you will be attacked by a large, green ogre-like enemy named Wreck. He is armed with a corrosive weapon and has a hook attack that can pull you in, so keep your distance and be prepared for a fight.
• Meet Burro: After you defeat Wreck, his companion will appear: a small creature named Burro. This is a direct reference to Shrek and Donkey from the movies.

What You Get from the Encounter

The fight against Wreck and Burro is a one-time encounter and does not have any special loot drops. However, it's still worth the trip for a keycollectible:

• "Till Death Do Us Part" ECHO Log: Behind Wreck's initial location, you will find a body. On this body is a "Till Death Do Us Part" ECHO Log. This is a collectible that you willneed to find if you are aiming to achieve 100% completion in Borderlands 4.
• XP and Money: You will receive a decent amount of XP and in-game currency fordefeating Wreck and Burro, which can be helpful early in the game.

Aside from the ECHO Log, there are no side quests tied to this encounter, sothere's no reason to return to the swamp after you've collected the ECHO Log. However, there is a nearby Order Bunker where you can find valuable gear, so it is a good location to visit for loot.
