Venture beyond the main story in Borderlands 4 to discover its most thrilling and rewarding endgame content: the optional Vault Monsters. This comprehensive boss guide provides everything you need to know to locate, battle, and farm these colossal beasts for their legendary loot. We break down each monster's unique mechanics, critical weak points, and the best strategies to secure victory.

The Hunt Begins: How to Access the Vaults

Before you can challenge these mighty foes, you must gain entry to their sanctums. Each Vault Monster is hidden within a specific region. To unlock their Vault door, you must first explore the surrounding area to collect three Vault Key Fragments. Once assembled, the path to an epic battle—and incredible rewards—will open.

1. Inceptus: The Corrosive Predator of the Fadefields

Location: Near Zadra's Backup Plan in the Fadefields.
Inceptus is a terrifyingly agile beast that uses its massive tail and devastating Corrosive attacks to overwhelm Vault Hunters. While its large size makes it an easy target, its thick armored plates make it incredibly durable.
Weaknesses and Battle Mechanics:
  • Armor Plating: Inceptus has no innate weak points. To deal significant damage, you must use your grappling hook to rip the armor plates from its shoulders and knees. This exposes pulsating pustules that take critical damage from all sources.
  • Cocoon Phase: At around 50% health, Inceptus will retreat to a cocoon on the ceiling, flooding the arena with acid. Grapple onto the hanging lanterns to safety. Target the base of the cocoon to deal critical damage. Destroying it will cause Inceptus to fall, stunning it and allowing for a brief period of free damage.

Pro-Tips for Beating Inceptus:

  • Dodge Wisely: Dash sideways to avoid its piercing tail stab. Use a double jump to evade its leaping tail swipe.
  • Weapon Choice: Atlas weapons with tracking underbarrels are perfect for consistentlyhitting its large, exposed weak spots while you focus on evasion.
  • Elemental Advantage: Arm yourself with Shock weapons to break its shields and Incendiary weapons to burn its health bar.

2. Radix: The Seismic Titan of Carcadia Burn

Location: Southwest of Carcadia.

Radix commands the very earth, hurling massive boulders and generatingpowerful shockwaves and lightning storms. This fight is a test ofsituational awareness, requiring constant movement to avoid itsarea-of-effect attacks.

Weaknesses and Battle Mechanics:

  • Glowing Weak Spot: Radix's bright red throat is a permanent critical spot. Aim for itshead; the hitbox is generous. For best results, wait for it to lift itshead during an attack.
  • Keep Your Distance: Radix will perform a devastating ground slam combo if you get tooclose. Furthermore, the electrified boulders orbiting it deal massivedamage on contact. Maintaining mid-range is key to survival.

Pro-Tips for Beating Radix:

  • Stay Mobile: Constantly scan the arena for incoming projectiles, lightning strikes, and rippling shockwaves.
  • Use the Environment: When Radix emits multiple shockwaves, use your Glider to soar over them or find higher ground on rocks.
  • Elemental Advantage: Equip Shock weapons to quickly deplete its shields, followed by Corrosive arms to melt its armor.

3. Origo: The Elemental Wyvern of the Terminus Range

Location: Terminus Range.

Origo is a formidable wyvern that masterfully alternates between Incendiaryand Cryo elements. It creates hazardous zones that either freeze you inplace or set you ablaze, making positioning and aerial mobility the core of this challenging fight.

Weaknesses and Battle Mechanics:

  • Crystalline Weak Spots: The glowing crystals on Origo's back are its critical weak points. These are easiest to hit when it is grounded, as it often shields themwhile in flight.
  • Elemental Hazard Zones: Its breath attacks leave damaging pools of fire or ice on the ground.Use your grappling hook on floor vents to launch into the air and glidesafely over the hazards.
  • Health Bar: Notably, all of Origo's health bars are blue, indicating a specific vulnerability.

Pro-Tips for Beating Origo:

  • Go Airborne: The key to this fight is staying off the ground. Use the air ventsfrequently to maintain altitude and get clear shots at its back.
  • Dive Attack Telegraph: If Origo hovers motionlessly in the air, it is charging a deadly dive attack. Time your dash perfectly to avoid the impact.
  • Mind the Edge: The arena has fatal drop-offs. If you fall, quickly use your grapple to save yourself.
  • Elemental Advantage: Its blue health bars make Origo extremely vulnerable to Shock damage. Avoid using Incendiary or Cryo weapons, as it has high resistance to both.
