Prerequisites:

Before you can hunt for the Platform Gate Key, you need to have completed the initial steps to access more of the Interchange:

Power Up Bootstrap System Terminal: Use an Atomic Battery to power up the Bootstrap System Terminal located in the Central Processor Room of The Interchange.

Power Up Data Store Alpha: Use another Atomic Battery to reactivate Data Store Alpha. Be aware that this area is heavily contaminated with blue mist that causes infection build-up, and it's also populated by exploding plants that exacerbate the infection.

Acquire Strange Tonics (Recommended): The only way to effectively cure infection is by consuming Strange Tonics. You can find the recipe to craft them inside the castle at the Druids' Camp in Casterfell Woods. Having a supply of these will significantly aid your survival in the infected areas.

Prepare Healing Items: Ensure you have a good stock of medkits or bandages to heal the damage you will likely sustain during your exploration.

Equip Strong Weapons: Arm yourself with powerful firearms. The Broadside Auto 5 shotgun or the Falkirk Battle Rifle are recommended for dealing with the threats you'll encounter.

Enter the Infected Area: This area beyond the door will be heavily covered in the blue mist, so be prepared to consume Strange Tonics to manage your infection build-up.

Prepare for Combat: This area is inhabited by Ferals and exploding plants.
