Whether you're dealing with a Portal Storm or an incursion from hostile Order members, a fortified base is crucial. One of the best and most dangerous defensive tools you can craft is the Tesla Coil.

How to Craft the Tesla Coil

The Tesla Coil is a powerful defensive machine designed to protect your base from incursions. Once placed, it will target any entity—friend or foe—with a long-range electrical attack.You can craft the Tesla Coil after you reach the Manufacturing West area. Here are the materials you'll need and how to get them.

Material	How to Obtain
Canister x1	Salvage from Fire Extinguishers at a Repair & Salvage Station. Fire Extinguishers are commonly found hanging on walls and shelves in Manufacturing West, Cascade Laboratories, and The Train.
Box of Screws x8	Crafted from Metal Scraps at a powered Crafting Bench after you interact with a Repair & Salvage Station once. You can also find them on shelves on Level 3 of the Office Sector or by breaking Wooden and Mine Crates in Manufacturing West.
Hose x2	Found on shelves or counters in Bio Lab D and the room with electrified water. You can also get them by salvaging Fire Extinguishers or by breaking Wooden and Mine Crates in Manufacturing West.
Coil x3	Found by breaking Computer Monitors in any location. They are also occasionally dropped when butchering Security Bots, Containment Bots, and Defense Bots.

How to Set Up a Tesla Coil

Setting up a Tesla Coil is a little more complex than simply placing it down,as its indiscriminate nature means it can kill you and your teammates.To use it effectively and safely, you'll need to connect it to a powersource and a Lever.

Crafting a Lever

You'll need a Lever to turn the Tesla Coil on and off. You can craft a Lever with the following materials:

• Any Oil x1: Found in Bio Lab D and Level 3 of the Office Sector. You can also getit by butchering any type of Fish at a Chef's Counter or by defeatingany type of Bot.
• Coil x1: Break Computer Monitors to find these.
• Metal Scrap x1: Drink Soda Cans, dismantle Metal Vents, or defeat Security Bots.
• Metal Pipe x1: Dismantle Metal Pipes found on the walls in any location, such as Restrooms.

Connecting the Tesla Coil

Follow these steps to set up a safe and controlled Tesla Coil:

Placement: Place the Tesla Coil near your most valuable items, such as your Crafting Bench, or in the most likely entry point for enemies.

Power & Control: Place a Lever and a power source (like a Power Outlet or Battery) within range of the Tesla Coil. You can use Tech Scrap to extend the range if needed.

Wiring: Connect the Lever to the Tesla Coil.

Final Connection: Connect the power source to the Lever last. This is a crucial step; connecting the power source directly to theTesla Coil first will cause it to be on all the time, making itincredibly dangerous.

With this setup, you can simply flip the Lever to activate the Tesla Coilduring an incursion and turn it off when the threat is gone. You caneven hook up multiple defensive machines to a single Lever and powersource using a Plug Strip, making base defense even more efficient.
