How To Find Power Cells in Abiotic Factor

In the sophisticated and dangerous world of Abiotic Factor's GATE facility, Power Cells are a vital resource. While they may seem simple compared to the other-worldly technology, they are an essential component for powering various machines and crafting mid-to-late-game items. Unfortunately, these resources are not easy to come by and often require you to venture into dangerous, hostile environments to acquire them.

Abiotic Factor: How To Find Power Cells

This guide will show you where to find Power Cells, what they're used for, and all the crafting recipes that require them.

How to Get Your First Power Cells

The first Power Cells you'll encounter are found in the Portal World of Flathill. To access this world, you must progress through the story and craft a Tier 1 Keypad Hacker.

Unlock the Portal to Flathill: Take the lift past the Security Office to Level 3. Go through the portal to Anteverse II, then through the portal on the other end to return to the main section of Level 3.

Find the Keypad Hacker Recipe: Locate Dr. Mayfield in the room next to Silo 3. She will give you the recipes for the three Keypad Hacker components (LCD Screen, Infrared Emitter, and Controller) and the Keypad Hacker itself.

Craft and Enter Flathill: Use the Keypad Hacker to gain access to Silo 3. This will activate the portal to Flathill.

Once inside Flathill, you will follow a linear, but dangerous, path through the city. You'll find three Power Cells on the rooftops of various buildings. Each rooftop has a station containing a Power Cell and a portal to the next section.

Power Cell 1: Found on the rooftop of the first building you enter after passing through the residential area.
Power Cell 2: Located on the rooftop of the arcade.
Power Cell 3: Found on the rooftop of the library.

Note: Power Cells from Flathill are special, static items that will respawn every few days, making this the primary renewable source for them.

Other Sources of Power Cells

In addition to the renewable source in Flathill, you can find a number of Power Cells scattered throughout the GATE facility.

Manufacturing West

Inside a hanging shipping container above the Blacksmith's base (requires platforming or a Jump Pad).
On the floor of the Mapping Center, next to a dead Scientist.
In a station in the underground area beneath Shipping.
In the back of an overturned truck in the Shipping area, near a radioactive waste spill.
On a shelf in the Supply Room on the back side of Shipping.

Cascade Laboratories

In a freezer in Cold Storage on Level 3.
Near the Ornate Crate at the Control Center, behind an office desk.
On a shelf in the Server Room at the Control Center.

Hydroplant and Reactors

In the back of a broken SUV near the Defense Bots in the Hydroplant.
In a pool of water with a dead scientist in the Village Den.
In the back of a truck at the camp near the Gale Reactor.
On the floor next to radioactive tanks in an underwater section of the Gale Reactor.
In a pool of liquid next to a cracked wall and radioactive tanks in the Gale Reactor.

Important: Power Cells emit high levels of radiation. It's recommended to wear a Hazardous Materials Suit or take Iodine Tablets when handling or transporting them.

What Are Power Cells Used For?

Power Cells have two main uses: as a crafting material for a variety of useful items and for powering specific devices around the world.

Powering Machines

Power Cells can be used to repair forklifts, allowing you to drive them for travel and to transport goods in their storage crates. Most repairable machines, including forklifts, also require you to have a Pipe Wrench in your inventory to interact with them.

Power Cells are a key component in a number of mid-to-late-game recipes. Here is a list of all the items you can craft with them:
