This time we are back with a guide with the aim of explaining How To Craft Forged Steel in 7 Days To Die.

7 Days To Die's harsh wilderness drops players into a rough reality: survival means constant improvement. This early reliance on crappy stone tools will rapidly blossom into the need for equipment a little more resilient. Within several weeks, forged steel becomes an extremely useful material to have in stock for the creation of many important, everyday items, from powerful weapons that give one an edge in battle to strong defenses that keep the horde at bay. Veteran survivors are no strangers to making steel, but fresh faces often struggle with it the first time around. The following guide will introduce you to all of the knowledge and steps on how to forge steel, from a clueless survivor to a proud crafter.

How to Craft Forged Steel in 7 Days to Die

Forged steel is required for nearly everything in the game that is supposed to be durable; therefore, it's going to require a focused method of production. This, unlike its readily crafted counterparts, means that forged steel cannot be produced by traditional means such as hand crafting or workbench assembly. To start this process, players must first build a forge—a structure designed for handling the high temperatures involved with working steel. Creating forged steel is quite the undertaking, requiring 31 iron and 15 clay for every block created. These raw materials are then processed inside the forge, where they are smelted into their workable form. Of course, there are some setbacks to the smelting phase, as this high temperature of the forge will attract many hostile creatures. To effectively work on forging, one needs to install a crucible inside one's forge, which is a necessary component to be able to create Forged Steel.

Acquire A Crucible

Getting a crucible is not easy. You can buy it, find it, or craft it, but none of the methods are simple. Crucibles are extremely rare and cost an absurd amount if you can get them from traders. If you don't want to wait on RNG for one to appear in a trader's stock, then you can invest in the Daring Adventurer perk to make it more likely.

You can craft a crucible, but it is even harder. You will have to gather 75 Forged Ahead magazines, which can be found in containers all over the world. After that, crafting it will require quite a hefty amount of resources: 100 Forged Iron, crafted from 12 iron and 6 clay; 20 Mechanical Parts salvaged from appliances and vehicles; 1200 Small Stone; 10 Oil; and 900 Clay Soil. While stone and clay soil can easily be found, other materials will have to either be salvaged or bought with utmost care from visiting merchants.

Craft A Forge

Before you can make a forge, you will have to first acquire techniques to blacksmith. You will do so by reading five issues of the Forged Ahead Magazine. Once you have acquired such knowledge, you can start gathering materials for making the following:

  • Cobblestone Rocks: Made by fermenting a single small stone mixed with a unit of clay soil, you will need 50 for the forge.
  • Wood Log: One wood log is part of the makeup that goes into creating a forge. You can make one from 10 pieces of wood.
  • Leather: Used for binding and insulation in your forge, get 10 units of leather by skinning available animals around you.
  • Duct Tape: A versatile material, duct tape provides additional reinforcement. You will need three of these, available by looting, purchasing, or crafting using glue and cloth fragments.
  • Short Iron Pipes: These pipes will make up the bulk of your forge. You will need three, availably by looting, purchasing, or crafting using a single forged iron bar.

With all these components in your possession, you are ready to craft a forge.
