Discover How to Complete The Flames of Fortune in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom with this excellent and detailed explanatory guide.
Echoes of Wisdom boiled the side quests down to just fifty. Most are either extremely simple or involve boss fights; however a few like "The Flames of Fortune." Without Zelda going fast enough, this Echoes of Wisdom side quest gets boring. Located in the Eldin Volcano region, it involves Tri's Grab Ability to complete it. Activating "The Flames of Fortune" requires you to complete Eldin Temple and take out the rift.
How to Complete The Flames of Fortune in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
You can approach a cliff, accessible with the Climber or Platboom Echo, to the left of the Lizalfos Burrow where Elder Silv was found. At the top, there's a Goron standing between a small hot spring and a lava waterfall. Approach him to start "The Flames of Fortune" side quest. To start this side quest, you'll need to take a large lump of coal that's on fire with you to the Goron-Limme-standing on the right-hand side of the path exiting to Goron City. With the Grab Ability X-button, you can only hold items for a certain amount of time. If coal touches lava, it will light on fire and break apart. When the old one is burned or shattered, you will have to go back with new coals to the Goron. While holding the coal, defend yourself as Zelda will instantly drop whatever she is holding the second that damage is inflicted to her.
You can try to make things easier by trying to clear out the monsters around Lizalfos Burrow before you start.
Find Shortest Route to The Flames of Fortune
Looking at your map, you can tell the route to Goron City is straight southeast. You could jump off the cliff and head to enter into the area with the Lizalfos Burrow to get there quickly. After having jumped down near the Smoothie Shop, go straight forward to deliver the coal. For it to stay hot, you'll have to pull it across the hot spots on the floor. You can also dip the coal into the magma; however, you can't leave it in there too long.
The following Echoes are suggested but not necessary for this side quest:
Ploboom, the Flying Tile
With Flying Tiles, you are able to bridge quite some distance in a jiffy. Platbooms can save your life in reaching a ledge higher. Summon Platbooms with caution; they will push Zelda backward. Due to this, she may drop the coal and it will shatter. In that case, keep depending only on the Flying Tiles. A good place to find the Flying Tile is either in the Gerudo Sanctum dungeon or a cave in the far northwest of the Gerudo Desert. Once you have climbed a ladder behind the Gerudo Palace, you will see the Platboom Echo. You can either use a Crawler or stack items such as tables or crates to ascend the cliff.
See the pink line up there? That's another way to complete the quest:
- Make sure Zelda has coal in hand using the X-button and approach the edge of the platform so that you're facing the Lizalfos Burrow. Launch a Flying Tile and jump aboard. Ride it out to its maximum distance. Leap off if possible before it settles over lava. Prepare for burning the coal you are holding along the lava areas if you have to.
- Head east when you are done with your ride on tile, you will see some Tellus monsters on the shelf above Goron City as marked on,
- Make sure you "refresh" the coal before you set it over lava patches.
- Jump down another ledge to land on the ground beside Goron City.
- Give him the coal while keeping the speech bubble over his head.
Fortune Flames Reward
As a reward from Limme for your work, you will get two Might Crystals. Might Crystals are needed to fill out Swordfighter mode, but the return isn't all that spectacular if you really struggle with the objective. In Swordfighter mode you can unlock every bonus with a mere 125 Might Crystals, but there's a special reward for collecting all 150.
