Good picks for this fight include Kitana, Sindel, and Kung Lao, all of whom have Dark typing and take more damage than Magic-type kombatants but do less damage themselves. This will also likely take a respec stat points, but be sure to have at least 45 Health and 35 Defense minimum.
Once he starts fighting, the player should proceed as usual but watch out for two of his attacks: one where Liu Kang jumps high up to then slam back down to Earth, and the other where he charges a pink ki blast. The instant that he jumps, the player should sidestep either left or right. They should dash around him and let loose with everything they can in preparation for the explosion of ki.
Once the third phase starts, the players will have to quickly respond to a rain of dragon-shaped projectiles that are flying horizontally and vertically across the screen. The path that these projectiles take is the same for every boss fight in the Invasions Mode, and by practice, one can learn how to dodge them. If you are either too impatient or short on time for this method, then there are a couple of easier ways to do so.
So, to not get hit by projectiles, players will be able to use a Translucency Field konsumable before battle to begin it. Players can purchase Translucency Fields through the Gateway Portal shop, but it may take several cycles of the inventory to actually secure one. Then again, players can simply use the Blood Brawler talisman to immediately heal themselves after defeating the IEC GEA Klue or just low block for the entire projectile section.
Rewards for Defeating the Dark Dragon Boss
The rewards are Dark Dragon Liu Kang's Dark Lord Palette, Worse Than Death Palette, 1,000 Seasonal Kredits, the Liu-Shoo Legendary Talisman, the Krown of a God Key Item, and the Hands of the First Shaolin Gear Piece for defeating him. Anyone who has ever wondered how to unlock all the various closed gates scattered over Invasion Mode's six Mesas can make use of the Krown of a God.
