With our help you will see that knowing How to Beat the Shieldbearer in Witchfire is easier than you think.
Among the three familiars available in this early-access Witchfire, comes the Shieldbearer. He's the first boss you can actually beat while trying to get in the way of the Witch and her nefarious schemes unfolding. He's also some kind of progression gatekeeper-meaning that if you want to advance the plot and unlock new content, you'll have to fight him. That's just how rogue-lite games work.
Of the three, the Shieldbearer boss fight would have to be the easiest for players who have mastered the movement and combat of the game. One of his phases of bosses makes you take damage out of nowhere, and that can be very frustrating for those players who either are inexperienced or rush through the maps. Thankfully, the game explains it.
With this guide, you will learn how to fight the Shieldbearer boss in Witchfire, as well as get a great method to cheese him for simple farming. The more you read through this, the more you will realize he is less of a threat than you thought.
In Witchfire, the Shieldbearer can be found at the northernmost part of Scarlet Coast. The map's key is called Scarlet Coast Chart, and it can be found on the Island of the Damned in Wailing Tower. There's no minimum Gnosis requirement to fight the Shieldbearer-the default works well enough: Gnosis 0.
A gaping, green chasm of fire awaits you at the location marked on that map above you. Remove the seal for 2,500 Volatile Witchfire Crystals and leap into the mystical void with confidence. The Shieldbearer is situated in the center of Witchfire's massive underground canyon. You're going to be suspended in mid-air for roughly six seconds. Unless you remember to double jump right before you hit the ground, you'll take a bunch of damage before even landing at the boss.
From the north crack, leap into the shining abyss. Do a spell of your lifetime mid-air by landing directly on top of the Shieldbearer.
Despite him being the main familiar of the Scarlet Coast, the Shieldbearer actually tends to be a pretty easy boss to deal with in Witchfire. He retains all of the Swordsman's moveset but upgrading it by adding on two additional abilities once health is depleted.
Only by dashing through your second stamina bar, the three weak areas, known as the Soul Sigils will appear on the Shieldbearer. If you manage to shoot them, you will temporarily knock him down and increase your damage output against him. Ensure your Endurance stat is at least 15 when attempting to fight him. Your increased stamina points make it easier to dodge most of his other strikes.
First phase: Shieldbearer flies to one side of the arena and lands a fearsome leap strike on you. Be ready for a dodge on time since his speed compared to a regular or master Swordsman will be way higher. You can leap upwards, fly, or sidestep to avoid his thrust. Shieldbearer will stay in his attack stance for almost two seconds. Do as much damage to him as possible in this timeframe.
Always attack the Shieldbearer at medium range. His range is roughly twice that of his melee swings and he also has quicker than normal strike speed.
Phase 2 Once Shieldbearer hits 75%, he starts to summon Revenants. These weak foes are really easy to kite since they move really slow, and you don't need to fight them, really. You're kiting, after all. Their summons always spawn behind the Shieldbearer so you'll have them travel half of the arena to get to you. Simply focus on peppering Shieldbearer.
Things get a little trickier at the last part of this boss fight. Halfway through the health, the Shieldbearer can deploy a shield that adds two new moves to their attack set. First and foremost, the shield reflects all kinds and types of projectiles. You're left with simply attacking the head and other opened areas of the body or using some sort of area-of-effect attack, such as an explosion.
Also, Shieldbearer places a big green dome with the shield in the middle of the arena. Whatever the case, do not leave the dome! You will not take the decay poison damage per tick if you are not touching the acidic sphere.
That's when things get tough while fighting the Shieldbearer boss in Witchfire. Inside the dome, there is little room to kite him around. The Revenants he keeps summoning are another hindrance you need to get out of your way. You will have to slaughter one Revenant after another and narrowly avoid the jump attack of the Shieldbearer to clear some space inside the toxic bubble.
The Shieldbearer has the capability to hit some decent amount of attacks provided you do not back away after taking some damage. Keep yourself away from situations wherein one gets stuck in a place without having the facility to move around. There should be enough room all over so that your escape, if required, is easily possible.
In Witchfire Shieldbearer cheesing, you can employ Echo shotgun upgraded to M2. Set the boss on fire and multiply the damage as its pellets explode on impact. Hold your breath until he lands from his jump attack and then instantly freeze him with Frost Cone. Chuck a few more bullets his way to buy yourself a few extra seconds. The same can be done for his jump attack and while you are reloading your Echo as he retreats.
Alternatively, one can utilize the Vulture demonic crossbow, which unleashes immense explosive damage. By using close to ten arrows, one is able to take him down from fifty percent health to zero in under fifteen seconds. Because demonic ammo is limited, you'll want to finish off all of the enemy camps and take all of the ammunition chests before taking on the boss fight.
Below, I have included gameplay footage on how the Shieldbearer can be easily defeated by combining the Echo and Vulture abilities. Actually, he is not that deadly a boss in Witchfire; a majority of the players believe when they level up. You get to cheese him just before the second phase of this boss fight is about to begin.
You'll also have the possibility of using Hangfire with the upgraded Midas against the Shieldbearer in Witchfire. The Hangfire has explosive damage on every reload, bypassing the protection completely, and the huge clip size from Midas cleans the Revenants with ease, and it is able to cause massive critical damage to the Shieldbearer.
The Shieldbearer will randomly reach into a pile of loot and grab an item. You can likely collect Strange Coins and Gemstones, which you can then exchange for Gold within the Hermitorium. Other items that may fortify your Preyer are Large Witchfire Clusters and Second Mysterium Incantations.
While looting, be careful not to click on the gateway because it is quite easy to accidentally go back to the Hermitorium and miss your loot, since the items fall just beneath the portal.
That's all there is to know about How to Beat the Shieldbearer in Witchfire, you just have to follow the instructions to get it and progress in this fast-paced game.
