Exploring the vast, Wuxia-inspired world of Where Winds Meet is an epic adventure. While horses and fast travel points are useful, true freedom comes from soaring through the skies. Unlocking flight is a key milestone, but it requires completing specific steps. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know to earn your wings and take to the air.

The Four Lightness Skills: Your Key to Flight

Flight is achieved through specialized "Lightness Skills." There are four primary abilities that grant you the power of flight, each with unique animations:

• Meteor Flight: The first skill most players unlock, obtained through a specific side quest.
• Thousand-Mile Flight: A reward from the Warrior’s Journey track, typically unlocked after your fourth login.
• Fan Glider & Wind Rider: Both are unlocked by progressing your Qinghe Exploration Rank.

While they look different, their core function is the same. To activate any flight skill, simply hold down the Jump button.

Step 1: Complete the "Afterglow" Side Quest for Meteor Flight

The most direct path to flight is by obtaining Meteor Flight. To begin this journey:

Open your Journal and navigate to the "Jianghu Legacy" tab.

Locate the "Afterglow" quest (it's the fifth one, but can be started independently).

Travel to the marked location near Moonveil Mountain and find a martial master disguised as a fisherman.

Speak to him to initiate a short flight tutorial that ends on a beach.

He will then challenge you to a platforming test. Use the floating winejars as stepping stones to reach his boat. Don't worry—the game assistsyour jumps to prevent overshooting. Once you complete the challenge,speak with him again and pick up the book and spear he leaves behind.

Important: You cannot fly freely yet. A major restriction is still in place.

Step 2: Obtain the Crucial Afterglow Pendant

Attempting to fly after the quest will simply return you to the beach. Thefisherman explains that flight in Qinghe is restricted without a special item: the Afterglow Pendant.

Here’s how to get it:

• Requirement: Reach Exploration Rank 4 in the Qinghe region.
• How to Check: Open your map and look at the bottom-left corner for the Qinghe levelindicator. Click on it and navigate to Rank 4 to see the AfterglowPendant as a reward.
• How to Level Up Quickly: Increase your Exploration Rank by:
  • Completing side quests and world encounters.
  • Collecting Oddities for the character Qi Sheng.
  • Discovering and activating new Boundary Stones (fast travel points).

Once you claim the pendant, the skies of Qinghe are finally yours to explore!

A Vital Warning: Regional Flight Restrictions

A crucial detail to remember is that your flight permission is region-locked. The Afterglow Pendant only allows you to fly within Qinghe. When youtravel to new regions like Kaifeng, you will need to earn that region'sExploration Rank 4 to unlock flight there as well.

The good news is that the Lightness Skills themselves remain unlocked permanently. You only need to grind the exploration rank in each new area to useyour abilities. So spread your wings, explore diligently, and experience the breathtaking freedom of flight in Where Winds Meet.
