In this guide entry we tell you How to perform executions in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, let's see.

Tyranids in Space Marine 2 are one of those types of foes that rely heavily on melee with the purpose of overpowering their opponents. Many players might feel comfortable with the idea of outranging and outdamaging the creatures, but sheer numbers of Tyranids have a good chance of overwhelming even the most skillful Marine.

To offset this, effective combat often requires a mixture of dodging, parrying, and executing. While dodging does allow the player some time to move out of the way and counterattack openly, parrying remains one of the most viable options when up against Tyranids. Their powerful yet predictable attacks can sometimes easily be nullified with well-timed parries. A successfully parried Tyranid is very often rewarded with a brutal execution that not only inflicts considerable damage on them but also replenishes a bit of health for the player character.

The foundation of surviving in Space Marine 2 is executing downed Tyranids for consistent health on top of making sure the Tyranids cannot regenerate or launch another attack. As a rule of thumb, players should always strive to perform executions on any downed foes wherever possible, since it greatly cleans up the overall threat a Tyranid horde would pose.

How To Perform Executions in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2?

This is going to be different when it comes to parrying Tyranid attacks: whereas the overall principle of timing your parry with the enemy's blue attack glow does not change, sometimes the specifics can differ greatly in regard to timing or consequences. Successfully parrying a blue attack against a Tyranid Warrior breaks his defensive stance and opens him for counterattacks. But deflecting a blue attack against a Gaunt will kill them in an instant-the quickest win. To do the deflect, press L1 on PlayStation, LB on Xbox, or C on PC right as the attack hits your character. Note that blue attacks sometimes require a bit of an earlier parry than most attacks do, because usually, the enemy lunges forward before making the full swing.

Parrying regular non-blue attacks is also a valid option. The results differ depending on the type of enemy: parrying a regular attack from a Gaunt will kill or seriously injure the creature, simply without the cinematic animation which accompanies blue parries, whereas successfully parrying a Tyranid Warrior's regular attack would only block it, not breaking their combo or defense, which can be much worse as it could lead to many successive attacks.

Remember very well that red-flashed Tyranid attacks cannot be parried and have to be dodged. Most of those are way stronger and much larger, making a parry very hard to execute. Instead, try evading such attacks and counter with a strike when the enemy becomes most vulnerable. Mastery of these types of parry mechanics can really make survival and success against the Tyranid threat dramatic and much more certain.

Execute in Space Marine 2 In Space Marine 2, executing enemies is a great visual and tactical way to destroy enemies and regain health. For an execute, move up to an enemy that is flashing red and input the execute prompt: R3 on PlayStation, the right joystick on Xbox, or E on PC. While an execution is a cool, satisfying end to a fight, they can also be finished off with regular attacks.

In order to destroy an enemy and leave them helpless for execution, players need to give them critical damage. This comes in a number of ways that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Sustained gunfire: Repeatedly shooting an enemy with a wide range of guns and targeting their weak points and exploiting any vulnerabilities.
  • Synaptic disruption: Breaking their neural connection can be through attacking specific places on the body or using special guns that will disrupt their electronic systems.
  • Melee attacks: Compulsorily striking the enemy repetitively with a melee weapon, using heavy and powerful swings and precise strikes to inflict the most damage possible. Explosive Damage: When an enemy is hit by the grenade or any other explosive that doesn't kill them but rather destroys their health in big portions. This may leave him weak and ready for execution.
  • Parry timing: This means a perfectly timed parry with a blue flash on an opponent in a weakened state. Along with this, it takes proper timing and anticipation, but can be an awesome way to thread into an execution.

You can execute larger enemies, such as Tyranid Warriors, when their health is low enough. If you parry a blue flash attack against a weakened Tyranid Warrior, it may greatly speed this process along because it will drop their defenses and leave them open to a finishing blow.

Smaller Gaunts are typically killed when their Synaptic connection is severed, but survivors will remain flashing red and can be executed for a quick health boost following a tough encounter. Executing Gaunts can especially be useful in situations when players need to conserve ammunition or heal up fast before facing some more formidable opponent.

Executing enemies in Space Marine 2 provides for a tactical and rewarding way to eliminate foes, replacing some health at the same time. Mastering various techniques to weaken enemies and perfectly timed execution moves will give players an edge in combat, enabling them to win even the most heated battles.
