If you'd like a more straight forward way of killing Emily, you'll want to work your way to keeping her alive until Mike has his pistol raised where you'll be able to shoot her.
How to Kill Ashley
In Chapter 9, Ashley will hear the noises of Jess pleading for help after being separated from the rest of the group. Investigate these noises; when you open the door, the Wendigo, not Jess, will be the one awaiting you. This is the only death you'll come across before continuing to Chapter 10.
Killing Josh
Chapter 10: During this chapter, Mike and Sam cross a body of water, stay right with a wall and climb up the talked-about hill. Throughout your time in this chapter, you aren't climbing up ledge systems unless instructed to explicitly do so by Mike. Otherwise, you'd ensure Josh gets killed and the journal stays hidden. Now there are two characters, Sam and Mike, who are potentially in the running for getting axed soon.
Sam and Mike's Death
Players will be prompted to either flee or rescue Mike. Players select "Save Mike" but then fail every other event that follows. Due to this, Mike will set the cabin on fire with Sam still inside, hence killing him. One of these various endings of the game could lead to a sequel regardless of the player's decision.
