In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, even the most promising trainees can fall victim to fatigue, overwork, or unlucky random events, leading to injuries or negative conditions that severely hamper their training progress. When this happens, pushing through isn't an option. The
Infirmary becomes your essential tool for recovery and getting your Umamusume back on track.
Umamusume: How to use the Infirmary
The Infirmary is a crucial recovery option that only becomes available in your training menu when your Umamusume is afflicted with a negative condition. These conditions can arise after events, from pushing too hard in training, or sometimes even after a failed rest day. Until a negative condition is active, the Infirmary option will remain grayed out and inaccessible.
Using the Infirmary is straightforward:Access the Training Menu: Navigate to your main training screen.Check Infirmary Availability: If your Umamusume has a recoverable negative condition, the Infirmary button will be lit up and clickable.Select Infirmary: Choosing this option will consume your current turn.Treatment Attempt: Your Umamusume will undergo a check-up, and the game will attempt to remove the debuff.Energy Recovery: Even if the condition isn't fully cured on the first attempt, your Umamusume will regain a small amount of energy. It's important to note that the Infirmary doesn't guarantee a one-time cure. Sometimes, a stubborn condition might require multiple visits to fully clear. However, sending her to the Infirmary is always preferable to continuing training with a debilitating debuff, which will significantly tank her stats and overall progress.
Particularly Brutal Conditions Requiring Immediate Infirmary Visits:
While many negative conditions are annoying, some are truly run-ending anddemand immediate attention. These three are especially critical:
- Slow Metabolism (怠け癖): This condition severely reduces or even nullifies all speed gains fromtraining. Since Speed is fundamental to a Umamusume's performance and is often the backbone of your stat progression, this debuff needs to becured immediately.
- Slacker (練習下手): This frustrating condition causes your Umamusume to randomly skiptraining sessions, even when you tell her to train. It can severelydisrupt your training plan and often requires more than one Infirmaryvisit to completely remove. This is often considered one of the highesturgency conditions to cure.
- Non-Distance Compatibility (不調): This debuff negatively impacts race performance if the track distanceisn't "compatible" or of the right length (e.g., not a clean multiple of 400m). You might not notice its impact until it's too late in a crucial race, making it vital to get rid of quickly. It can moderately reduceperformance and cost you a race if not addressed.
If any of these severe conditions appear, it's a clear signal to use the Infirmary without delay.
Important Considerations:
- Infirmary vs. Rest: Do not confuse the Infirmary with regular "Rest." If your Umamusume ismerely low on energy but not injured or debuffed, a normal Rest is the appropriate action to recover energy. The Infirmary is specifically for negative conditions.
- Don't Delay Treatment: Negative conditions typically do not resolve on their own. Hoping theywill disappear naturally is a risky strategy that often leads to wastedtraining turns and lower overall stats. Take action promptly.
- Prevention is Key: To minimize the need for Infirmary visits:
- Support Cards: Consider bringing support cards that offer perks like reducing injury chances or improving recovery rates. Some support cards also have events that can restore energy or mood, indirectly reducing the risk of negative conditions.
- Schedule and Intensity: Pay close attention to your training schedule and intensity.Back-to-back heavy training sessions without adequate rest significantly increase the risk of injuries and debuffs. Balance high-intensitytraining with rest days or lower-risk activities.
- Wit Stat: A higher Wit (Intelligence) stat can help prevent mistakes duringtraining and races, which can sometimes lead to negative conditions.3 Training Wit can also help recover a small amount of energy.
