how to take your Sims to the doctor in The Sims 4. Learn essential tips and tricks for health and wellness in the game!
In The Sims 4, your health truly equates to your wealth. As you immerse yourself in gameplay with your household, you may observe them beginning to feel a bit unwell—particularly if you have numerous Expansion or Game Packs at your disposal.
Even so, medical assistance for your Sims is quite limited. Fortunately, there are several effective ways to heal your Sims from their ailments. To truly care for them, you must first identify the underlying issues.
The Sims 4: How To Go To The Doctor
If you own The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs, your Sim's beloved pets can experience illness too.
Sims may experience nausea and vomit if they are dealing with morning sickness during pregnancy or if they consume spoiled food. Squeamish Sims are prone to illness from a variety of triggers, such as invasions of their privacy and the act of catching frogs.
Sims can experience Nausea with just the Base Game, but DLC expands their world to include a host of additional health challenges.
With The Sims 4: Seasons, your Sims face a higher chance of falling ill when the weather turns wet and chilly. Stay vigilant against those pesky winter colds.
Health Conditions Featured In The Sims 4: Time to dive in
The Sims 4: Get To Work unveils a variety of illnesses featured in the game. Your Sims' symptoms will manifest as moodlets for a limited time:
The Nauseous moodlet introduced in Get To Work stands apart from the Nauseated moodlet found in the Base Game. Pay close attention to the icon and spelling to determine if your Sim requires medication. The Nauseous moodlet is clearly indicated by a medicine bottle.
Be sure to watch for unusual patterns appearing on your Sim’s skin. If your Sim is suddenly adorned with pink tiger stripes, it’s a clear sign that things aren’t going well for them.
Fortunately, none of these illnesses pose a fatal threat. It's simply a major hassle.
In the Doctor career, although diseases have distinct names, the moodlets will not display those specific titles. Keep an eye out for the signs.
Experiencing Food Poisoning While Eating Out
When a Sim dines at a restaurant with Dine Out, there's a chance they could experience the unfortunate event of food poisoning.
Sims suffering from food poisoning will experience nausea and might urgently need to use the toilet, so ensure the bathroom is accessible for them. A bush from Get Together, Jungle Adventure, or Werewolves will do the trick as well.
Sims experiencing the Food Poisoned moodlet are unable to use a cure and must simply wait for it to subside.
While it may sound unappealing, reporting food poisoning can be an effective way to earn some fast cash. The option is available on the phone of any Food-Poisoned Sim.
Experiencing Poisoning in Selvadorada
After a recent adventure in the jungle, your Sim could return with unexpected treasures beyond just souvenirs. Jungle Adventure unveiled a myriad of dangers to be aware of, such as bee stings, spider bites, and ominous curses.
In the jungle, Sims who experience severe illness are often victims of poisoning. This illness in The Sims 4 can be deadly, so it's crucial to address it promptly.
A Sim unable to resist the allure of the poison they encounter will experience the following moodlets in this sequence:
- Experiencing Discomfort
- Confusión: Aturdido
- Intensidad: +1
- Duración: 12 horas
- Contaminated!
- Confusión: Aturdido
- Intensidad: alta
- Duración: 12 horas
- Utterly Contaminated
- Confusión: Aturdido
- Intensidad: alta
- Tiempo total: 8 Horas
Prior to experiencing the Feeling Icky moodlet, your Sim may display other moodlets indicating they've been bitten by a spider or assaulted by plasma bats. This could signal that it's time to prepare an antidote.
Rabid Rodent Fever
When your Sim's bond with their rodent roommate is lacking, they could end up getting bitten during interactions. A dirty enclosure puts them at risk of contracting the deadly Rabid Rodent Fever.
As they journey toward the onset of full-blown Rabid Rodent Fever, they will encounter a series of moodlets:
- Snackable Delight
- Emoción: Tensa
- Intensidad: Aumentada en 1
- Tiempo total: 2 Horas
- Embracing the Cozy Vibes
- Incomodidad
- Intensidad: Aumentada en 1
- Tiempo total: 23 horas
- Fuzzy Fever
- Incomodidad
- Intensidad: +2
- Duración: 23 horas
- Rabid Rodent Fever
- Confusión: Aturdido
- Intensidad: +2
- Duración: 23 horas
While we don't recommend allowing your Sims to succumb to rabid rodent fever, it's worth noting that their ghosts can be quite amusing.
The Sims 4: Werewolves allows players to transform their Sims into werewolves, forge friendships, or engage in thrilling battles with these mystical creatures, if they choose to do so. It opens the door to an entirely new realm of illness.
Fighting with werewolves is even worse than it sounds, as it puts your Sim at a severe risk of contracting Werebies: A unique strain of rabies specifically associated with werewolves.
Discovering Werebies is possible by delving into the sewer system of Moonwood Mill or by acquiring a werewolf bite.
You’ll know your Sim has Werebies if they have the following moodlets:
- Werebies
- Furia
- Intensidad: +3
- Duración: 4 Horas
- Next-Level Werebies
- Emoción: Tensa
- Intensidad: +3
- Duración: 20 Horas
- Insatiable Hunger
- Emoción: Uncomfortable
- Intensidad: +2
Can Sims Go To The Doctor Or Hospital?
Sims can only go to the hospital if they are in labour or the Doctor career. Thankfully, this means that sick Sims don’t need to go far from home to treat their ailments.
If you have The Sims 4: Cat and Dogs, you can go to the veterinarian with your animals where they can receive diagnosis and treatment. Buying treats from the clinic’s vending machines also helps to give their health a boost.
How To Cure Illness
The treatment your Sim needs to cure their sickness depends on what they’ve come down with:
What Happens After Curing Illnesses
For the most part, Sims who are cured of their illness will lose the negative moodlet associated with it and carry on with life.
When it comes to illnesses from Get To Work, Sims will have their symptoms replaced with one of two positive moodlets, depending on their course of treatment.
Sims who use medicine to treat their sickness will have the Medicated +1 Energised moodlet for a few hours.
If they take a more natural approach to their illness, they’ll get the Combating a Cold +1 Happy moodlet instead. There aren't any negative side effects from natural remedies, so that might be preferable if you're not sure what your Sim is dealing with.
