The magical world of Stardew Valley is full of trees, from the charming Cindersap Forest to the breathtaking Ginger Island, enriching the landscape-and players can use the resources they provide to craft useful tools and items. While chopping trees with an axe enables farmers to gather wood, the benefits of trees go way beyond that.
With the help of a Tapper, players can gather valuable resins from trees all over Stardew Valley. Learn how to make one quickly and ways to maximize its utility.
Making a Tapper
Tapper The recipe will unlock when you have achieved Foraging Level 4. To craft one, the player will need 40 Wood and 2 Copper Bars. Once crafted, equip the tapper, click on a tree, and it will set in place.
Unleash the heavy tapper, a real game-changer because it works twice as fast as a normal tapper. You'll be able to craft this useful tool once you've bought the recipe from Mr. Qi for only 20 Qi Gems. This recipe will require 30 Hardwood and 1 Radioactive Bar. It works the same way as a normal tapper but with increased speed.
How To Use Tappers in Stardew Valley?
Any tapper can be placed on any tree, except stumps. The same product will be generated year-round, without seasonal variation, providing a guaranteed source of income to the player well into their first winter. The type of resource produced by a tapper depends on the type of tree the player chooses to tap.
- Maple Tree: Generates Maple Syrup every 9 days (just 4 days with a Heavy Tapper). This ingredient is perfect for creating a delicious Maple Bar or for use in the crafting recipe for the Bee House. Several fish in Fish Pond quests also request it.
- Oak Tree: Generates Oak Resin weekly (3 with a Heavy Tapper). Craft Kegs and Deluxe Speed-Gro with Oak Resin.
- Pine Tree Produces Pine Tar every 5 days (or 2 days with a Heavy Tapper). This is an essential ingredient for the recipes of the Loom, Rain Totem, and Speed-Gro.
- Depending on the season, the Mushroom Tree may drop a Common Mushroom, a Red Mushroom, or a Purple Mushroom. Common mushrooms are ingredients for cooking, but red and purple mushrooms are used in several craft recipes, of which the most important is probably the Life Elixir. The purple mushrooms are an excellent source of energy and health.
- The Mahogany Tree produces 3-8 Sap per day, which is a very useful item to craft various things, such as different fertilizers. This method is ususally not the most efficient use of the tapper, since often large quantities of sap can be collected at the same time as wood is being chopped.
- The Mystic Tree produces one Mystic Syrup in a week, or three with the Heavy Tapper. This syrup is highly used in Treasure Totem and Blue Grass Starter recipes.
- The Green Rain Tree (type 3) produces one Fiddlehead Fern every two days, or daily with the Heavy Tapper. During Summer's bright Green Rain event, these trees grow into great giant fiddlehead ferns.
Of course, Oak Resin is the most profitable of these to craft, since Kegs and Deluxe Speed-Gro can provide a better profit. To the social butterflies, Maple Syrup is obviously a villager favorite and one of the better items to give as a gift.
Aside from crafting, many of these tapper items will also be used to fill out various bundles in the Community Center as well.
Tapping
Profession Tapper is a good choice if you want to maximize your profits from tappers because it will increase the value of Syrups: Maple Syrup, Oak Resin, and Pine Tar.
