Reach out to him by ascending the ladder. Apparently, the diggers were attacked when they broke into the lair of a lethal mutant. You'll be given the choice to either aid The Ninth in dealing with the bandits pursuing him or to eliminate him immediately. Since the Stalkers are so opposed to the Monolith, killing him will make Lens happy, but saving him will only result in some harsh words but no real repercussions. Mastiff will appear in Lens' workshop shortly after you aid The Ninth, and in exchange, he will provide you with the coordinates of the Dead Stalker's Drop cache in the southwest of the Lesser Zone.
Please meet with the Stalker leader outside if you would want to lend a hand. Go with "I'm here for Mastiff." The result is the same regardless of which of the two choices you make. Gather your weapons and ambush the Stalkers around the house. Help will be extended by the Ninth. After the fight is ended, go inside; The Ninth will inform you that Mastiff needs a few days to recover. Return to Zalissya and speak with Lens to complete the objective.
