How to add friends in Splatoon 3?

The first thing you should do is to play a normal online matched game, after that you will be able to play with your friends. When you join a match queue, when you enter a training room, you will see people from your in-game friends list appear as ghosts in the lobby. You can press L to access the Games menu, where you will find the Friends menu with the two squid icon. This will allow you to join your friends' sessions, but you can create groups so that you are in the same group as your friends.

To do this you will need to go to the training room and press L to access the matches menu > then you will need to press left or right on the d-pad to set the pairing to "With friends" > select a game mode.
