Learn how to effectively use a handler with our comprehensive guide on Schedule 1. Master the techniques and enhance your skills today!
Handlers are a valuable type of worker you can hire in Schedule 1 to streamline your operations. They specialize in transporting products between different locations and managing your packaging stations. While managing their tasks can seem a bit intricate at first, this guide will provide you with a clear understanding of how to hire and effectively utilize Handlers to boost your efficiency.
Schedule 1: How To Use A Handler
How To Hire A Handler
Locate Manny: To hire a Handler, you need to find and speak with Manny. He is located on the first floor of the warehouse near the Pawn Shop.Pay the Signing Fee: Manny will ask for a signing fee of $1,000. Pay this fee to initiate the hiring process.Understand Daily Wages: Be aware that Handlers have a daily wage of $200. You will need to pay this amount to the Handler each day you want them to work.Assign a Bed: Remember that all your hired workers, including Handlers, need to be assigned to a bed at your property to be able to work there.Receive the Worker Journal (First Hire): If this is your first time hiring a worker, Manny will give you a journal. This journal is the key tool you'll use to manage all your employees, including Handlers.Handler Arrives: After paying the signing fee and assigning a bed at your desired property, the Handler will appear at that location.Property Not Showing Up? If the property where you want the Handler to work doesn't appear as an option when talking to Manny, it means you need to place an additional bed at that property.
How To Use A Handler
To give commands and manage your Handler, you will primarily use the journal Manny provided.
Equip the Journal: Select the journal from your inventory.Approach the Handler: Walk up to the Handler you want to manage.Open the Management Menu: With the journal equipped, interact with the Handler. This will open their management menu.Assign Packaging Stations: In the management menu, you can assign the Handler to work at up to three packaging stations simultaneously. This requires you to have both packaging materials and product available at those stations.Define Tasks: Beyond just working at packaging stations, you can instruct the Handler to:- Transport product: Move raw product from one storage location to another or from a production station to a packaging station.
- Transport packaging: Pick up packaging materials from shelves and deliver them to packaging stations.
- Manage finished goods: Collect the packaged output from packaging stations and deliver it to designated storage shelves.
- Pick and deliver: Have the Handler pick up both products and packaging from shelves and bring them to the packaging station.
Setting Up Routes for Automated Tasks
The route section within the Handler's management menu is where you'll define a sequence of automated tasks for them.
Assign Up to Five Routes: You can assign up to five different routes to a single Handler at any given time.Route Conditions: Routes are essentially commands that the Handler will execute
automatically when specific conditions are met (e.g., a packaging
station is out of materials, a storage shelf has available product).
Handler Routes Example (Picking Packaging and Product, Delivering Packaged Goods):
Here's a basic example of setting up routes for a Handler to automate the process of packaging:
Route | Starting Point | Destination Point | Description |
1 | Large Shelf A | Packaging Station | Fill Packaging: The Handler will continuously pick up packaging materials from Large
Shelf A and bring them to the assigned Packaging Station whenever the
station runs out. |
2 | Large Shelf B | Packaging Station | Supply Product: The Handler will pick up the designated product from Large Shelf B and bring it to the assigned Packaging Station. |
Finalizing the Packaging Output Destination:
After setting up the Handler's routes for supplying the packaging station,
you need to tell the Handler where to take the finished packaged
product:
Equip your journal.Target the Packaging Station with the journal.Open the Packaging Station's Management Menu.Select a Destination Shelf where you want the Handler to place the completed packaged products.Once you've done this, the Handler will automatically pick up the finished
product from the packaging station and deliver it to the selected
destination shelf, then resume their assigned routes.
Troubleshooting Handler Issues:
If your Handler isn't working as expected, consider the following:
- Bed Assignment: Ensure the Handler has been assigned to an available bed at the property where they are supposed to be working.
- Daily Wages: Have you paid the Handler their daily wage of $200 for the current day? If not, they won't work.
- Nighttime: Handlers, like other workers, typically do not work late at night. Try sleeping until the next day to see if they resume their tasks.
- Talk to the Handler: Approach the Handler and interact with them (without the journal
equipped). They might provide information about why they aren't working
(e.g., "Nothing to do").
- Review Routes and Stations: Carefully examine the routes you've set up and the assigned packaging stations. Ensure that:
- The starting points (shelves) have the necessary packaging or product.
- The packaging stations have space for more materials and product.
- The destination for the packaged goods has available space.
- The routes are logically connected and don't have any dead ends.
