How to Install Mods in PEAK

The indie co-op climbing simulator PEAK has rapidly gained popularity, offering a surprisingly diverse experience with its daily map updates. To enhance your climbing adventures, you can install mods that add new features or improve existing ones, such as easier backpack usage or increased player limits.
While PEAK is a relatively new target for mod creators, the available mods are generally very useful and easy to install. Players have two primary methods for mod installation: manual installation or using the Thunderstore Mod Manager. The latter is generally recommended for its simplicity.Important Note: Always read each mod's description carefully, as some mods only need to be installed by the host of a co-op session, while others require all players to have them.

PEAK: How to Install Mods

1. How to Install Mods in PEAK via the Thunderstore Mod Manager (Recommended)

This is the easiest and most common method for managing PEAK mods.

Download and Install Thunderstore Mod Manager: First, download and install the Thunderstore Mod Manager application.

Launch and Select PEAK: Launch the Thunderstore Mod Manager. In the game selection screen, search for "PEAK" and select it. You might need to create a profile for modding the game.

Install BepInExPack PEAK: BepInExPack PEAK is a fundamental component required for most PEAK mods to function. Install it directly through the Thunderstore Mod Manager.

Install Desired Mods: After BepInExPack PEAK is installed, browse the available mods within the Thunderstore Mod Manager. Select the mods you wish to install and use the manager to download and enable them.

Launch Modded Game: Finally, launch PEAK through the Thunderstore Mod Manager (there will usually be a "Modded" launch button). Do not launch PEAK directly from Steam if you want your mods to work.

2. How to Install Mods Manually in PEAK

If you prefer a manual approach or if a specific mod doesn't support the Mod Manager, you can install them as follows:

Download BepInExPack PEAK: Download the BepInExPack PEAK zip file from a reliable source (often linked on mod pages or the Thunderstore website).

Unpack BepInExPack PEAK into Game Directory: Locate your PEAK game directory. On Steam, you can usually find this by right-clicking PEAK in your library, going to "Manage," and then "Browse local files."Extract the entire contents of the BepInExPack PEAK zip file directlyinto this game directory.

Launch and Close PEAK (Important): Launch PEAK once and then close it immediately. This step is crucial as it allowsBepInEx to properly set up its necessary folders, including the plugins folder.

Download Desired Mods: Download the .dll file for the mod you want to install.

Place Mod in Plugins Folder: Navigate to your PEAK game directory, then go into the BepInEx folder, and finally into the plugins folder (e.g., [Your Steam Directory]\steamapps\common\PEAK\BepInEx\plugins). Copy and paste the downloaded .dll mod file into this plugins folder.

Launch Game: Now, simply launch PEAK as you normally would. The installed mods should be active.

• PEAK Unlimited: For those who want to climb with a larger group, this mod removes the default player cap of 4. While it can allow up to 20 players, it's generally advised to play with aslightly smaller number to maintain game stability and prevent crashes.Only the host needs to install this mod for it to work.
• ReviveHotkey: This simple yet effective mod adds a hotkey that allows you to instantly revive your character if they become unconscious. This can significantly reduce frustration and make co-op runs smoother.
