Locating the Well of Souls in Act 2

Fortunately, Grinding Gear Games has made this vital tool accessible early in your campaign journey. You can find the Well of Souls in Act II.

Travel to the Mastodon Badlands: This sprawling, rocky zone is your first destination in Act II.

Find the Lightless Passage: Carefully explore the outer edges of the Mastodon Badlands map. Look for a narrow, easy-to-miss dirt path leading downward. This entrance will take you into the dank and ominous Lightless Passage.

Navigate to the Well: The Well of Souls is a sub-area within the Lightless Passage. Fight your way through the tunnels until you discover its distinct entrance.

How to Unlock the Well of Souls

Upon entering the Well of Souls for the first time, you will not be able touse it immediately. You must first complete a simple story quest:

• Inside, you will find a boss called the Lurking Creature, marked by a golden quest icon.
• Simply interact with this creature. This will trigger a cutscene where The Hooded One appears.
• The Hooded One will bestow upon you the "language of the ancients,"granting you the permanent ability to understand and use the Well.

After this interaction, the Well of Souls’ waypoint is permanently unlocked.It will appear on your world map as a fast-travel location, similar toyour Hideout, allowing for easy access throughout the rest of the game.

How to Reveal Desecrated Modifiers: A Step-by-Step Process

Once unlocked, using the Well is straightforward but impactful.

Acquire a Desecrated Item: These are Rare-tier items (yellow) that have had a hidden modifier applied using an Abyssal Bone (e.g., Gnawed Jawbone).

Travel to the Well: Use your world map to fast-travel directly to the Well of Souls.

Place the Item: Insert the Desecrated item into the altar receptacle.

Choose Your Modifier: Click "Reveal." The game will present you with three different modifier options to choose from. Carefully review the choices and select the one that best complements your build.

Confirm and Craft: Click "Confirm" to inlay the modifier permanently onto your item. Thegreen gibberish text will be replaced with the clear, powerful stat youselected.

• Abyssal Bones: These consumables (Gnawed, Preserved, Ancient) are found by engagingwith Abyssal content throughout Wraeclast. They are used to add the initial hidden Desecrated modifier to a rare item.
• Crafting Currency Compatibility: A major advantage of this system is that items with a revealedDesecrated modifier are not locked from other crafting methods. You cansafely use Chaos Orbs, Divine Orbs, and even Vaal Orbs on them afterwards.

Furthermore, Omens can be used during the revelation process to influence the results and improve your chances of getting a desirable modifier.
