This can be a little frustrating trying to navigate this through the in-game menus. Log into the website of Call of Duty using your Activision ID and password. From there on out, you should have no trouble at all getting around your account settings and modifying what needs to be modified.
How to sign out of Activision account in MW3?
Since there is no way to sign out directly from within MW3, you can very easily delete the association between your Activision account and the game itself using the Call of Duty website. Here's how you do it:
- Go to the Call of Duty Profile Website: Use the browser of your choice and head to this website address of the Call of Duty profile, https://profile.callofduty.com/cod/login. You will use this to keep your account information up to date.
- Log In with Your Activision Credentials: You will need to log into your account by supplying your Activision ID and password. If you have set up 2FA previously for additional security, you will ask you for a verification code at this stage.
- Account Linking: Log in, then on the left side you will find "Account Linking," which allows you to manage the platforms attached to your Activision account.
- Find Your MW3 Platform: This will be listed under the section "Gaming Networks." It will be PlayStation Network or Xbox Live depending on whether you are playing on console, or it will be your Battle.net account if you're on the PC version.
- Unlink the Platform: Find the "Unlink" button corresponding to the platform found in the step above. Clicking this will begin the process of disconnection of your Activision account from MW3 on that particular platform.
- Verify with Email Code: The Call of Duty website, to check whether this unlinking is being purposeful and to avoid unauthorized access, sends a verification code to the email address registered with it.
- Get and Enter the Code: First of all, log in to the email address you registered with. You can see an email titled "Call of Duty Account Verification Code." This email will have a unique code for this unlinking process. You will need to copy this code from the email.
- Finish the Unlinking: Paste this copied verification code in the given space on the Call of Duty website and then click the "Submit" button to finish this unlinking process.
Now, your Activision account is successfully disconnected from the platform you used to play MW3. If you want to link another Activision account later with the game, then launch MW3 and log in with the new credentials in the in-game settings.
This will unlink your current platform from your Activision account with some severe consequences. This includes all levels and in-game items you have purchased or unlocked, so basically, all your hard work gets cleared. You can get this information back simply by relinking the exact same platform to your Activision account.
You'll need to be aware that this will unlink your platform, which is not something you can do more than once within any twelve-month period. Be careful in making your decision—recovering your progress is not instant.
Signing out of your Activision account in Modern Warfare 3 has serious implications. You will lose access to your progress and items for that title. If you're playing Warzone on the same platform, be certain it affects your experience. Given how interlinked these two games are in terms of profile and general achievement in gaming, great care should be exercised when signing out.
