The first thing you need to know is that weapons are now separated into "Platforms" and these start with one weapon, which when customizing in Gunsmith, you will notice a new attachment known as "Receiver", which mainly functions as the "base" of the construction of your weapon.

When you already have the receiver and change it, you will be able to access a new weapon variant, which will fall into a different category. Such variants can be found in the Progression tab of the Gunsmith screen.

Luckily though, unlocking the SP-R 208 is easier than other weapons, as you'll simply need to get to rank 7, which should take 3-4 games in multiplayer.
