The Hunt for Seeds and Crafting the Small Crop

The first step toward agricultural independence is finding the starting material and the device needed to grow it.

Finding Seeds

Fortunately, seeds are relatively common and can be found in unexpected places throughout the world of Misery:

• Scavenging: Keep a keen eye on shelves inside abandoned buildings. Seeds are often found tucked away in old cupboards or storage areas within houses.
• Looting: Even the fallen can provide resources. You can sometimes find seeds when looting corpses out in the open.

Once you have a seed for any vegetable, you are ready to build your garden plot.

Crafting the Small Crop

The Small Crop device is the container you’ll use for cultivation. It’s relatively cheap to craft, relying on basic, easy-to-find materials:

• Plastic x5: Plastic is readily obtained, often resulting from drinking bottles of water found in the world.
• Wood x2: Wood spawns randomly and is commonly found in many locations, especially in forested or dilapidated areas.

Gather these components and craft the Small Crop device to create your personal farming station.

Fueling Growth: Mastering Fertilizers and Water

Growing crops isn't just about putting a seed in the ground; it requiresresources to act as fuel and fertilizer. You'll need to find or producethese components to kickstart the growth process.

The Fertilizer Options

Fertilizer acts as the fuel source that sustains the growth cycle. You have two main options:

• Human Poop: Your character will randomly drop Human Poop after eating food, providing a consistent, free, though slightly unpredictable,source of fertilizer. You can also sometimes find it while exploring the environment.
• Ash (Durable Option): A more stable and long-lasting fertilizer is Ash. You can acquire Ash by incinerating Garbage or Human Bones. This is a great way to recycle unwanted items and gain a powerful fuel source.

Hydration is Key

No plant grows without water. You must also supply Water from Water Bottles to the cultivation process. Always keep a few full bottles handy before starting a new crop.

The Cultivation Process: Planting and Harvesting

With your materials gathered, setting up your self-sustaining food source is simple.

Placement: Place the Small Crop device outside your bunker. This location ensures easy access upon your return.

Assembly: Open the Small Crop interface.

• Add your vegetable seed to the Convert slot.
• Add your chosen fertilizer (fuel) and water to the fuel slots.

Start Growth: Press the button right next to Turn On.

Monitoring: A percentage indicator below your seed will begin to grow. This represents the time needed for the crop to fully mature.

Harvest: Once the percentage reaches 100 percent, the Storage tab within the Small Crop interface will contain the fully grown vegetables, ready for consumption or storage in your bunker.

By keeping a continuous supply of crops growing, you create an economicsafety net. Every time you return to your base, whether wounded orsimply needing preparation before your next raid, you have a guaranteedsource of food to replenish your crucial stats. This eliminates thefrantic need to scavenge for nourishment immediately and allows you toprioritize high-value healing or resource collection in the wasteland.
