How to Kill The End Early in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater

The legendary sniper duel against The End in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is one of gaming's most memorable boss fights. However, what many players don't know is that Konami included a brilliant secret: you can assassinate The End long before the intended confrontation. This guide will walk you through the entire process, from securing the essential weapon to executing the perfect shot and the consequences of your actions.
Successfully pulling off this trick is one of the most rewarding feats in the game, allowing you to bypass a notoriously lengthy battle and experience a unique story alteration.

Prerequisite: Finding the Secret SVD Sniper Rifle

You cannot attempt this early kill without the right tool. Fortunately, the game provides the perfect weapon just before the opportunity arises.

After defeating The Pain in the swamp, you will progress to a river section patrolled by enemy hovercrafts. This path will eventually fork. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Take the Left Path: Ignore the route to the Ponizovje Warehouse Docks for now. Instead, take the left path leading to the Ponizovje West area.
  • Locate the Storage Room: Explore Ponizovje West thoroughly. You will find a storage room or shack filled with various supplies and items.
  • Secure the SVD: Inside, you will find the SVD Sniper Rifle. This high-powered, semi-automatic sniper rifle is the only weapon capable of making the long-range shot required. Ensure you add it to your inventory before proceeding to the next area.

Step-by-Step: Executing The Early Assassination

With the SVD in your possession, you now have everything you need. The opportunity occurs shortly after, during the mission Ponizovje Warehouse: Exterior.

  • Advance with Caution: As you progress through this area, you will eventually come to a pointwhere you can see a group of soldiers wheeling an old man in awheelchair across a distant bridge or platform. That is The End.
  • Equip Your SVD: Quickly but quietly, equip your sniper rifle and find a stable position with a clear sightline.
  • Aim for the Head: Zoom in and carefully line up a headshot. A single, well-placed shotmay be enough, but firing a second quick shot is highly recommended toensure the job is done.
  • Watch for the Reaction: If successful, you will see The End's wheelchair explode in a dramaticfashion as the soldiers panic. A quick call from Major Zero will confirm the target has been eliminated.

  • Pro Tip: SAVE YOUR GAME! Before attempting this shot, it is highly advised to make a manualsave. Furthermore, call Para-Medic to save your game and create a backup point. This allows you to reload instantly if you miss the shot oralert the guards, saving you from having to replay a long section.

    The Consequences of Your Actions

Killing The End early has significant ripple effects on your playthrough:

    • Skipped Boss Fight: The entire scheduled sniper duel in the Sokrovenno South jungle areawill be completely skipped. You will never have to spend real-worldhours tracking his footprints or listening for his breathing.
    • Altered Story Path: Instead of the boss fight, you will immediately face a challenging combat scenario against Ocelot's GRU forces in the Sokrovenno area. This provides a different gameplay experience and narrative beat.
    • Rewards: You will still receive The End's unique Camouflage and other related items, as if you had defeated him fairly in the duel.

This method is a testament to the incredible depth and player freedom that defines the Metal Gear Solid series. By using your initiative and exploring off the beaten path, you can rewrite the story and overcome one of gaming's greatest challengesbefore it even begins.
