Indy is about to dive into a classic strategy board game from Thailand. To conquer this challenge and seize the prizes hidden in A Game of Wits, featured in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Sukhothai chapter, he’ll need to master the rules and develop a winning strategy.
Upon encountering the Mak-Yek board for the first time, players may experience a sense of confusion and overwhelm. However, this guide is designed to assist players in uncovering the necessary code for the lockbox and navigating the solution to this intricate Indiana Jones and the Great Circle puzzle.
Indiana Jones: Solve A Game of Wits Puzzle
Discover the Mak-Yek puzzle nestled within the main base of Voss’ Camp, located in the remote northern region of the Sukhothai map.
Within the room, players will discover two notes that provide insight into the workings of Mak-Yek. The first note pertains to Lorenzo’s Challenge, which initiates the A Game of Wits mystery. This note outlines the steps players need to follow to unlock the safe code, which requires strategically moving four distinct blue units—each one time—to successfully capture all 9 red units.
While it may appear daunting at first, the Mak-Yek Rules note will guide players on how to effectively start capturing the red pieces:
- A piece has the ability to traverse horizontally or vertically across any number of squares, stopping only when it encounters an obstacle.
- Surround enemy pieces with two of your own to capture them effectively.
- A piece can slide between two enemy pieces that are one square apart to capture them.
Following the established rules, players should adhere to this strategy to successfully capture all red units using only 4 of their blue units:
- Shift the blue unit from F1 to F3, capturing the two red units located at E3 and G3 – this will generate the initial number for the code. 3. Shift the blue unit from H1 to D1, enabled by the movement of the blue unit from F1. The C1 red unit will be captured, and the second number for the code will be identified as 1.
- After capturing C1, advance the blue unit from B1 to B8. This strategic move will capture the red units at A8, C8, D8, and E8, all thanks to the blue unit positioned at F8. The third number in the code is 8.
- Once all red units on row 8 have been claimed, shift the F8 blue unit down to F6. Alongside the blue unit at F3, the final two red units from F4 and F5 will be secured, completing the fourth and final digit for the code: 6.

The combination for the A Game of Wits safe is 3186.
Enter this code into the safe located just behind the Mak-Yek board, and players will discover a stash of money to use in the Sukhothai chapter. Players have the exclusive opportunity to indulge in the luxury of wealth, allowing them to purchase guides and the coveted Air Breather item. However, it's crucial to unravel mysteries for Adventure Points and maintain a stash of cash for exceptional Adventure Books, such as those available in the Jungle Bruiser Pit.
