The developers of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have not issued any statement regarding the incident of buying a camera in the Vatican Post Office. However, some gamers have shed light on the issue through reporting it in the steam forum of the game. Hopefully, this will be fixed in some future update or patch. While we wait for the official announcement, here are a few possible solutions that could fix the problem.

There is a price on the camera. Make sure you are carrying 379 lire with you because that is the price of the camera. You might try to buy it without enough money. You can either try to sneak around and loot the military camps you will pass on your way to the post office or take a tour of Vatican City to collect the amount.
Unbind Keys
People's solutions ranged from restoring your keybindings to factory defaults. Some players figured out that binding the spacebar to the Use/Pickup action was the culprit. Once they changed this binding to any other key but the spacebar, they were able to complete the purchase. Meanwhile, you may try resetting your key bindings or manually make the changes mentioned above to see if it helps.
Make the change to control
Another ingenious solution moved away from using the mouse and keyboard and instead opted for a controller. It allowed some people, at least for the time being, to be able to pick up the camera without needing to change their controller keybindings.
