Where To Find Optical Disks in Grounded 2

By Daniel Hidalgo | 2025-08-14 09:54:13
Optical Disks in Grounded 2 are one of the most crucial resources you’ll need to progress. These disks unlock powerful gear, advanced building materials, and essential blueprints that can significantly enhance your survival in Brookhollow Park. However, finding them is no easy task—some are guarded by deadly creatures, while others are hidden deep within treacherous caves.
This guide covers every Optical Disk location, including standard disks and TURBO Disks, along with tips on how to retrieve them and what rewards they unlock.

Types of Optical Disks

Unlike Milk Molars, which are scattered in large quantities across the map, Optical Disks are rare and come in two variants:
  • Standard Optical Disks – Found randomly in the world, these unlock new weapon, armor, and resource recipes.
  • TURBO Disks – Tied to the main story, these provide expanded building options and insect taming abilities.

Now, let’s dive into every known Optical Disk location in Grounded 2.

1. Snackbar Anthill (TURBO Disk)

Location: Beneath the large Snackbar POI.

How to Get It:

  • Enter the Snackbar Anthill (under the snackbar structure).
  • At the first fork, take the right tunnel.
  • Continue downward until you encounter two boulders blocking the path.
  • Break them using an Omni-Hammer.
  • Behind them, you’ll find a crate containing the first TURBO Disk.
  • Reward:

    • Unlocks the Hatchery Blueprint, allowing you to breed insects.

    2. Snackbar Front (Two Disks)

This region contains both a TURBO Disk and a standard Optical Disk.

    TURBO Disk Location:

  • Head northwest of the Snackbar POI.
  • Look for wooden planks near the front—go underneath them.
  • Follow the trench into a small cave.
  • Inside, a Northern Scorpion Jr. guards the chest.
    • Tip: Parry its attacks or fight from range.
  • Claim the TURBO Disk from the chest.
  • Standard Optical Disk Location (Toxic Anthill):

  • Travel north of Snackbar Front to the Toxic Anthill.
  • Look for a spray can marking the entrance.
  • Descend into the cave—the toxic area is minimal.
  • At the bottom, near a dead body, you’ll find the disk.
    • Warning: The Cockroach Queen patrols here.
    • Strategy: Grab the disk and escape without fighting if unprepared.

  • 3. Pine Hill (Standard Disk in Spider Den)

Location: Deep within the Spider Den in Pine Hill.

    How to Get It:

  • You’ll need a Red Warrior Ant Buggy to break barriers.
  • Navigate through waves of spiders—keep attacking while moving.
  • Unlike other caves, there’s no boss here, making retrieval easier.
  • The disk is located at the deepest part of the den.
  • 4. Ice Cream Cart (Standard Disk in Freezing Zone)

Location: Inside the fallen ice cream cart in the Ice Cream Cart region.

    How to Get It:

  • Cold resistance gear is mandatory—this area inflicts freezing damage.
  • Enter the cart and head south.
  • The disk is easy to spot (unlike cave-hidden ones).
  • Beware of hidden Northern Scorpions—they ambush from below.
  • Bonus: Grab the purple Science Orb near the disk before leaving.
  • 5. Statue (TURBO Disk – Story Reward)

Location: Unlocked via the "Networking" mission in the Statue region.

    How to Get It:

  • Progress through the main story until you unlock "Networking."
  • Travel east to the Statue.
  • Defeat Bandit, the Masked Stranger’s spider ally.

    • Warning: This is an extremely tough fight—prepare well.
  • After winning, the Masked Stranger will grant access to BURG.L’s robotic head.
  • The TURBO Disk is on a table to the right of the head.
  • How to Use Optical Disks

Once collected, take the disks to any Ranger Outpost and insert them into the Ranger Station. Each disk unlocks new crafting recipes and upgrades, depending on its type:

    • Standard Disks → New weapons, armor, and tools.
    • TURBO Disks → Advanced base-building options and insect taming.

Pro Tip: Don’t ignore these disks—they prevent progression walls and make Grounded 2 much easier.

    Final Thoughts

Optical Disks are essential for mastering Grounded 2. Whether hidden in caves, guarded by bosses, or locked behind story missions, each one provides game-changing upgrades.
