The Red Ant Egg: A Simple Start
The Red Ant Egg is the easiest to find and is a key resource for crafting rather than hatching. These eggs are small, white, and oval-shaped, and you can find them scattered throughout any of the anthills. You don't need to venture deep into the tunnels, and taking them won't provoke the other ants. This makes them a safe and reliable resource for early-game players.
The Red Soldier Ant Egg: A Challenging Hunt
Acquiring a Red Soldier Ant Egg is a perilous journey. These eggs are nestled deep within a specific anthill and are fiercely protected by an army of aggressive soldier ants. The main quest, "Egg Hunt," will guide you to the location, but don't go in unprepared. Before you begin your search, make sure you have solid armor and weapons, a full stock of healing items like Fiber Bandages, and that your character's hunger and thirst meters are topped off.
The anthill you're looking for is called the Hatchery Anthill: South Entrance.
Once inside, navigate the labyrinthine tunnels and prepare for a series ofbattles. As you venture deeper, you'll reach a large computer terminal.Turn left here and follow the wire to another terminal. A series ofturns—left, right, then left again—will lead you to a building. Inside,you'll see an egg behind glass, but this isn't the one you can take.Continue straight through the opposite door and down the cave to findthe eggs you're after.
Be aware that you can only carry one egg at a time, and it will occupy both of your hands. The momentyou pick one up, the ants will relentlessly attack, so be ready to fight your way out. A key tip: there's a small building halfway through theanthill where you can rest, rehydrate, and set a new spawn point, whichcan be a lifesaver.
The Orb Weaver Egg: A Spider's Lair
If you've already managed to hatch a Red Soldier Ant Buggy, your hunt for the Orb Weaver Egg will be much easier. The Buggy is a fast mount that can outrun mostpredators, and, more importantly, it can carry the large Orb Weaver Egg.
A reliable location for an Orb Weaver Egg is under a large, fallen streetlight. This spot is where the Snackbar Front, Picnic Table, and Grass Games regions meet, but it is also the den of a massive Wolf Spider. Your best bet is to wait until the spider is either asleep or roamingfar from its den before you approach. Inside, you'll find several large, purple eggs. Command your Ant Buggy to pick one up, then race back toyour base. Once you've unlocked the appropriate crafting recipe in thestory, you can place the egg in your Hatchery and wait for your new petto emerge.
