In
Grounded 2, managing your hunger and thirst is a constant challenge. While finding water is relatively easy, acquiring safe food requires an extra step: cooking. Eating raw meat comes with the risk of being poisoned, which causes a damage-over-time effect. To avoid this, and to gain additional benefits, you should always cook your food before consumption. Here is a guide on how to cook food, starting with the most basic method.
Grounded 2: How to Cook
How to Make a Roasting Spit in Grounded 2
The simplest way to cook food is by using a
Roasting Spit. This is a basic crafting item that you can build early in the game.
Open the Crafting Menu:- PC: Press B
- Xbox: Press Up on the D-pad
Locate the Roasting Spit: In the crafting menu, the Roasting Spit is the top option under the "Utilities" tab.Gather Materials: You will need the following materials to craft it:- Pebble: 4
- Sprig: 3
- Dry Grass Chunk: 3
Build the Spit: After selecting the Roasting Spit from the crafting menu, a green outline will appear, allowing you to place it anywhere you want. Once you have placed the outline, exit the crafting menu and interact with the outline to use the materials in your inventory to build the spit. How to Cook Food Safely
Once you have built your Roasting Spit, cooking food is a simple process.
Light the Spit: Interact with the Roasting Spit to light it. This can be done as often as you like and does not cost any resources.Place Raw Food: Interact with the lit spit again to place up to three raw food items on it. Any raw food that can be cooked will be highlighted in yourinventory.Wait for it to Cook: The food will cook in just a few seconds. The food will not burn if left on the spit for too long.Retrieve or Eat: Once the food is cooked, its name will change (e.g., "Raw Meat" becomes "Cooked Meat"). You can then pull the cooked food off the spit or eatit directly from the spit.Benefits of Cooked Food:
- It eliminates the risk of poisoning.
- It restores more hunger than raw food.
- It restores a small amount of health.
Upgrading Your Cooking Abilities: The Cookery
While the Roasting Spit is great for cooking single items, you will eventually want to upgrade to the Cookery. This is a more advanced cooking station unlocked through the Cooking 101 upgrade in the Science Shop.
- Cookery Recipe:
- Weed Stem: 9
- Clay: 2
- Acid Gland: 1
- Boiling Gland: 1
The Cookery allows you to combine multiple cooked items into more complexmeals. While these meals require more materials, they provide additional buffs and benefits beyond simple hunger and health restoration, such as enhanced combat abilities or improved exploration efficiency.
