You would need to have just arrived from Mars to think that there wouldn’t be another GTA release in this world-famous gaming series. But now we have it confirmed from Rockstar themselves, stating that GTA 6 is well underway.
Due to GTA 6 being a highly anticipated game, online sleuths have been looking high and low for rumours and insider knowledge on what the game may include. Some have even picked apart Rockstar’s job descriptions for clues. GTA 6 could be a metagame
One smaller detail that will have gamers excited is a rumour that GTA 6 will continue to offer games within the game, namely through casino minigames that have been seen before. These popular casino games have added a new element to the franchise in the past, and they're suggested to be brought back. These may include in-game purchases, which are similar to the pay model
at a normal online casino.
Where will GTA 6 be set?
A number of rumours have emerged that GTA 6 will revisit Vice City, which Jason Schreier also suggested from Bloomberg. However, there have been additional rumours about the game taking place across the whole of the US and even international cities as well. One Reddit user revealed this, stating a Brazilian city will be involved, possibly Rio de Jannero.
This user also pre-confirmed the development of the game and over 20 details about it, suggesting they work on the inside of Rockstar. Releasing data in this way can create more mystery over the game and even increase interest in it so that it may have been purposefully done.
What will the GTA 6 story be?
Because the game is suggested to take place across multiple locations, the strongest rumours indicate that the narrative will centre around a male protagonist trying to start his own international drug ring. Other stories have echoed these statements but have said there will be more than one protagonist and maybe as many as four in total. An international GTA game may have been influenced by successful TV series like
Narcos on Netflix, which also influenced the creation of a Narcos slot game.
When will GTA 6 be released?
The official word from Rockstar is that GTA 6 is "well underway", which would suggest all of the above has mostly been decided already. But there has yet to be an official confirmation of when the game will actually hit the (digital) shelves. Some people believe the announcement is only the start of the process, and we may not get our hands on the final product until 2023, with some even suggesting we will have to wait until 2024!
