At the time
Splinter Cell was the main brand of Ubisoft, but everything has changed and it has been almost 6 years since the release of
Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013, so fans have started to wonder for some time, if
Splinter Cell will return.
Yves Guillemot CEO of Ubisoft responded to several of the fans' concerns during an interview for IGN Unfiltered by saying:
"When
you create a [new entry in a series], you have to make sure that it
will come with something that will be different enough from what you did
before. The last time we did a
Splinter Cell,
we had a lot of pressure from all the fans who said: ' Do not change
it, do not do this, do not do that. "So, some of the teams were more
eager to work on the brand."
"Now
there are some things and some people who are now looking at the brand,
taking care of the brand, in a moment you will see something, but I can
not say more than that, because, because
Assassin's Creed and all the other brands took off, people wanted to work more on those brands, so we have to follow what they like to do. "
Specifically, he said that they do not plan to reactivate
Splinter Cell, unless they can do something new and unique.
However, there have been several rumors that
Ubisoft has contracted working on a new release for the past two years, it could be
Splinter Cell, Sam Fisher recently showed up for a cameo in
Ghost Recon Wildlands, but we'll have to wait if
Ubisoft makes any positive statement regarding the game.
